I was down South West of Cornwall somwhere "trying" to hunt in piss poor weather when i had a convoy contact

I just about managed to get a visual then noticed somting BIG.. I asked the wepons officer to get me an ID..

It was 'HMS Rodney'!

I had a perfect angle of attack so I decied to charge in flank speed and was able to get quite close before I fired off the fish then crash dived and went to silent running...

There I was stareing at the stop watch when i heard all my torps go boom *did happy dance*

After a few mins i recived "she's going down"
The escorts were not too happy and came stright for me..or what they thought was me

Two hours of evadeing and i surfaced to once again breeth the fresh air..
looked at my log
A fraking Tramp Steamer

Didn't think Bernard was on my crew

Oh well at least the escorts missed me

It's possible (presuming it was the Rodney) that she was in the centre of a convoy and your aim was slightly off, meaning you hit something a few degrees either side of her

It was defiantly the Rodney it was a big ship and I checked the ships profile myself in the ID booklet to make sure..

the torpedo was obviously slightly off...

War is hell...

NOTE - where there any strong cross winds crossing your path that may have caused the torps to veer away from your intended track?

I think in the future it may be wise to keep your eyes on the action above until you are certain of the outcome of the attack,unless of course you are in the late war period,where having even the tip of the scopes raised could give you away.
