What has happened to 2 Major online selling sites

I have spent untold thousands of dollars on Amazon and Ebay and have had ecellent service up until lately.

Example 1. On Amazon bought a copy of GP Ledgends. Seller had 100% positive. I contacted seller and asked if game was Original and had printed manual and as stated ,can be played on XP.

Response. Yes to all. Turned out all was a lie. The label on the cd said "SoldOut Games and, the Jacket label on the gamecase was a crappy print. To top it off I was directed to go to a website to get and exe. and some other files to play game.

An obvious Hack\Crack game. Never could get it to play btw.

Contacted Amazon and told them about it. They were already aware.

Emailed me a prepaid UPS label and return authorization slip.

OK I get a refund. IN 4 F**KING WEEKS.

Now about Ebay. I order a game on the 16th and get an email from Ebay and PayPal they got my money.

It's the 21st. And I have yet to get a Shipping notice. 6 days ????

I contact Mr 100% seller and, no response.

I contact Ebay\PayPal and am told they will look into it AND if a refund is the solution.

ANOTHER 4 F %^&*ing WEEKS!!!

Is this just lightning struck me twice or has the Quality control at Amazon and Ebay on the part of it's Sellers and the Rateing System FAILED.

As I stated at the begining I've spent a small fortune over the past few years with these sites.

Is there a new pattern developeing ?

The only pattern developing is PayPal or Amazon paying you back. At least you were reimbursed. With luck the bad merchants on these sites will be removed. The only problem is some other bad merchants fills the spot. I can honestly say I have had good success on both sites.

True, at least there was a refund.

But i think more what firewall is trying to say is - what happened to decent honest human beings who would sell you something and hold up their end of the bargain?

I have made a number of deals on craigslist this past 6 or 8 months.

Sold a hard drive, never been used, fresh in the box with shrink wrap and all. $100

Sold an iphone with several accessories $125

Sold an exercise bike $100

Sold two defunct computer monitors that were just laying around $50

Sold two defunct computers which were left in a closet when we moved into this place to some techie for parts $0 (guess i actually gave them away)

Sold a big screen TV that was given to me by a friend who didnt want to move it $700

the messed up thing is that 2 of those deals closed escrow at like 10pm in some restaurant or retail store parking lot which got me to thinking... whats to keep "billy bob" from stabbing me in the gut and just taking the hard drive?

I now have a deals in daylight in a public place only policy... not that i ever felt in danger, but there is always the possibility.

But yeah, online sales and purchases can be a good and bad thing

On craigslist in the past 6 or 8 months i have made myself a decent $1,000+

I see. Often in desparate times people take desparate measures. Stealing and deceiving are part of those desparate measure.

Yes, Ones a crook and Amazon still lets him sell his stolen crap software.

The other seller on Ebay is lazy. Still after 6 days no shipping notice.
So much for his " Ships within 24 hrs. BS "

On both I, have to wait a month to get my money Refunded.

Policies change. Well so can Buyers.

one thing that is hard for some folks to do when selling online is to think of the buyer as the customer.

make the customer happy... get positive feedback... sell more crap.

I bought alot of old Flight sim software on Ebay in the past and always got good service and the product I was paying for.

That's all changed now. I used to believe in their Positve rateing system. Not anymore.

It saddens me. But that's life.

And... I found a way around waiting 30 days for a refund.

Late last year I purchased a second hand Icom receiver on Oztion (like ebay) over $600, after a lot of chasing paper work for claims etc I never got it or my money back! Have a fraud claim lodged with Police, still waiting on that!
However I still use eBay and my wife is a Power Seller there! (100% positive 1151 star rating) Yes I have lost a little but overall very happy with eBay!

Does Aussie have its own main auction site? We have TradeMe full of kiwis, Aussies and even American retailers have started up. I couldnt think of any reason to want to buy/sell on Ebay nothing to do with the site itself its the distance that puts me off.

We occasionally have the ripoff, one seller recently brought some fog lights for his 4WD, soon as he paid the $90 the guy canceled his account and changed his email thinking hes just got a cool $90 out of this sucker he apparently did this to 5 auctions all at once after they paid up. Tm told the buyer they dont give out personal details unless ordered by the courts & cause its only $90 they suggest he wipe it off as a bad deal and blacklist the seller
So he traveled 200 miles to get the court order then visited TM office and they had to give him the guys address details.

Turns up at the guys place that day & got his fog lights. Spent more money getting it back than what he paid for but he said seeing the look on the guys face was priceless

good on him i dont know though if i would be that deterimined over $90.

Through eBay you are guaranteed to receive your goods by PayPal, but no such thing with OZtion. https://www.oztion.com.au/
I don't use them any more, wonder why!

I've never had a problem using Amazon or eBay but remain wary as I read more and more peoples negative experiences.

Some fricking idiot who happened to have same name as I do sold a bunch of old NES games on the finnish version of Ebay (huuto.net). Of course, the git didn't deliver and the next thing I got an angry call from the mom of the kid who had bought the games. I explained that it wasn't me and that eventho there's only 5.5 million peeps in Finland it just might be possible that someone has the same name as I do.

We let it go at that, until she called me again the next day with the same whine whine whine. I explained again how I haven't owned a NES in years let alone would have many games to sell. She said that they have my bank account number they paid the money to and would contact police. At this point I was rather pissed (was at work then and really had no time for her BS), so I "kindly" said to her to call to the ****ing bank and ask if they could get the sellers phone number or something as she's yelling at the wrong guy. She hung up.

The next day, I get a call from the local police, asking me to come over. I quered if this had something to do with a scam on Huuto.net and sure it was. I told the nice policeman what I told the bitch, check bank for the contact information of the other git and if they still get my phone number, I'm willing to confess the murder of Olof Palme too. Fortunately, I didn't have to go over to th station and the police said that he'll look into it, but that I should be in reach just in case.

Well, haven't heard from them since. Would not have minded an apology call from the ****, she weren't very nice nor polite to me.

I haven't had any problems with amazon but I rarely buy stuff from them.. But I quit Ebay years ago.. They change there policies back in the earlier 2000s and It violated our original agreements. I didn't like the path there where heading so I refused to accept the new conditions.

I've heard it got worse over the years...
