problem operating the radar

on the uboats, the german has an early radar where one turns the wheel and an osciliating (sp?) line shows at what range/if any, it hits anything solid. I have serious trouble fine tuning this. i can press the button for stop/scan. but theres no option for moving it slightly back and forth. Like i said, theres a wheel there to turn, but if i try and use the mouse on it, the wheel jumps back and forth making it impossible to use.

The same kind of wheel is on the hydrophones and tehre i can turn it just fine.
anyone know whats going on?

Is this problem present in vanilla ? (im using RFB and RSRD mods)

It's been a while since I used the German radar, but you should be able to operate it with the home/end keys to rotate the radar head round and also you can use the mouse wheel to fine tune the adjustment.

there are two different range settings for the radar,there the ranges are on the bottom according to scale.(mX100)

wherever the the line jumps,that's roughly the range of the contact. you can compare the bearing of said contact to the wheel to know where they are. if you have map contact updates on,eventually they will show up there as you get closer.
