Default Sabotage!!

Well i was about 5 patrols into my latest DiD campaign playing 94% realism (everything except for external camera because i like the eye candy) set myself up on a nice 2 ship convoy, sorted the solution, everything was looking up for a decent attack.

Tube 1, Los! Tube 2, Los! Tube 3, Los!

'Great!' says I, gonna have some more tonnage in the bag, cue switch to external camera to watch the fireworks.

I immediately new something was up when i only saw 2 torpedo wakes, 'but i fired 3?' i say to myself. KABLAMMO! circle malfunction torpedo of doom! So down goes another U boat without trace, no doubt at the hands of some spy tinkering with my torpedoes back at the sub pen.

Anyone else had this rather stange malfunction?

Default Dive

I haven't had that pleasure, but have some advice.

If you want to survive, dive after firing. You can use the external cam to watch fireworks. If you have that turned off, live like the real submariners and just listen for the distant rumble.

I just attacked a convoy in near complete darkness. I was being kinds stupid, so rushed into the convoy, pulled a 180 just as I was getting to the edge (turned around 200m from the edge ship) fired off my last torpedo and flanked it straight out the side of the convoy.

Sadly, I was also passing directly in front of the edge escort. He started to shoot at me, as I would have in his case, but the best part was splashes were appearing in the water next to him. We were far too early in the war for hedgehogs, then I realized what it was.

The armed merchants were shooting at the escort thinking it was the u-boat!! One even hit it! Ahh, good times!

I've had a circle runner.... luckly i dived before it hit me.... was damn close too.

Only seen 1 circle runner so far though.

Guess you'll dive after firing from now on?

I normaly do anyway, however seeing as there were no escorts i was complacent. This is now going to be a standard operating procedure from now on, irrespective of the presence of escorts. In fact the document has just hit Donitz desk for him to sign in preparation for distribution to all Uboats!
