What is the correct way to issue orders....I send a hapless soul to the gun and I want him to only fire at closing targets. so click the "closing target" button but the "fire at will" also lights and he seems to bang away at anything....wasting ammo along the way ?

Have you tried selecting the short range button? I never liked the "closing" option either.

Best way to order an AA gun crew is to order them below and pull the plug. They can't accomplish anything but killing 60 good men and a decent hunk of steel.

You still can unclick the fire at will after selecting closing targets, but if you're gonna fight planes, put your best gunners on and let them fire at will..with TMO, those planes are strong and take a lot of bullets. The 40's can light them up though..
Like RR said, why chance it with you're sub. RSRD tones down the TMO planes settings, so they're not as evil, but they can still drop shallow and deeper setting bombs that can damage you at 100plus feet...You'll soon figure out which planes carry what. If I get stuck in shallow water for some reason and would rather dodge them, then I'll fight them, but other than that leave them be...They'll only vector more planes to your area...or nearby escorts if they're around. |
