Just sitting here waiting for a nice big juicy convoy coming my, 16 merchants
![]() Ok cheating a wee bit as I have external camera on, I have zoomed over to the convoy and there are saxons blowing....does this mean that they have spottted me or is this normal..? And has anyone got any good links for convoy tactics to help me understand there formations, movements etc. me feels this is going to be a long one ![]() ![]() |

Don't use the ex. cam so I don't know about that but if the escorts are flashing lights I'd say you have been detected. Also the merchants will be maneuvering.
Depends on mods as to what they will be doing. They will hold course and speed for about 20 nm. and then will alter course by as much as 90°. With 9 escorts some will every so often do a sweep to the flanks and sometimes the lead will do so also ahead. If you have radar track them till night and you'll learn a lot about the way they move. If they are all spread way out you might try to get inside and do your damage. Parallel their course and you can bring all tubes to bear. Unload everything and than go deep fast and quit. No matter what you do it looks like a fun night ahead. ![]() Magic

There are several sound files for sirens, collision, contact picked up, ect.
Often they can pick up your radar transmission and you'll see escorts coming at you fast from far away. Usually you just cut your radar off and run away and they'll turn back. When they get radar, they'll chase and latch on to you. If you're using RSRD, you'll run into huge convoys, some over 50 ships with many escorts. Being spread out it's fairly easy to get past the screen. Remember, rough waters hide you the most, then silent running and getting below the thermal layer into deep enough water to not be picked up on active sonar...Have all 3, it's pie. |
