Hello
I recently picked up a copy of the amazing book. I just wanted to check as it states that there is a fold-out plan in 1/150 scale, but I don't have any fold-out plans at all. Just double paged drawings. Can anyone who also have a copy of this book confirm this? Is it a seperate plan, or really just the double paged drawings they are referring to? Perhaps a picture would be possible? I just want to check that my book is complete and doesn't have that part missing. Thanks, G |

Most of the revised "Anatomies" have a plan printed on the inside of the cover.
The Type VII "Anatomy" is nice, but the book in this series on the HMS Alliance is awesome. There are dozens of exploded-view and cutaway drawings of the boat's machinery and equipment, and many of them are wonderfully detailed. If you've ever wanted to really study the innards of a WWII submarine in depth, this is the book for you. Here's a view of the bottom casting of the search periscope from that book: ![]() The HP air compressor: ![]() The propeller lifting arrangements: ![]() The aft circulating water system and the engine room lubricating oil system: ![]() |

I just got a copy of this as well and wondered the same thing until I found it almost by accident. As Subnuts has noted, the fold-out plan referred is on the reverse of the book jacket (at least it is with my copy).
I love the book for the line drawings, but can anyone recommend one that gives a relatively thorough overview of how everything actually works? I'm speaking of a WWII era (German) u-boat specifically. Would be nice to have as a complement to the "Anatomy" volume. |
