Post 'em

Any nautical craft that violates your concept of aesthetics.

One man's ugly is another man's beauty. That last one looks kind of cool, although that crane looks like it'd be horribly unbalancing.

Now THIS is ugly:

The Russian Novgorod, 1874. A horribly failed design (As you can guess), but fits the ugly ships category perfectly.

Looks like something you'd see sitting on the bottom of the ocean, right before it popped up and attacked you

An unattractive (and unsafe) design...

The Abegweit?

I actually steered that boat when I was a kid. I used the radar and comunications radio too. I wouldn't call it ugly. Top heavy maybe, but not ugly. I did spin the wheel around hard to starboard and then back to center. The entire ship leaned heavy then settled back on course. Scared the hell out of the bridge crew, lol!

Ah, childhood memories!

Amazing it can stay afloat without capsizing. It must have a very heavy keel!

Any reason to make it so tall and narrow?

Probably because it was meant/designed to cary as many trucks and cars as possible and the Northumberland strait between P.E.I. and Newbrunswick/Nova Scotia doesn't have rough weather most of the time. The trucks would hold it down, but they would have to be on the side with the prevailing wind. Also it was an icebreaker, the bow was only a few feet abouve the water line as you can see in the photo.

Definitely not a sea worthy vessel, I agree in retrospect. I wonder if I could have toppled the boat when I was a kid for turning the helm so hard, ha ha!!

The old Abegweit was a nicer ship I bet, but it was before my time. Here's a photo:
