Default Who Makes Their Own SuperMods?

I just made a 464 MB SuperMod.

Well.. probably only 1 MB of it is my own work. The rest I pieced from several other peoples mods. I am not going to post it for download anywhere because it's just an 'in house' mod for myself. I don't have the permissions to take these peoples work other than as they intended... on my system.

But here is a list of what I have put into my SuperMod. Some of them are fully used, some I took this or that file(s). I had several files that overlapped so I took this from here and that from there until I had all my favorites in one mod.

AilBubbles 1.0 Micro
AilRain 1.0
Conus' Graphic Mod 1.1
Impurity Blue
Killer Tubes_Better_Texs
DiveDepthFix_by_coasterdigi
McHub532s SH4 German Stopwatch for SH5 v 1.0.0
McHub532s Sub Pictures v 1.0.0
MightyFine Crew Mod 1.2.1 Alt Faces
Reduced Mission Tonnage v02
No Damn Bubbles, No Damn Halo Mod

This way I have that all in 1 Mod.. and then I can stack on TheDarkWraith's UI Mod and a few others. These were the hard core ones I loved and felt it was worth 3 hours of work to put into one mod to simplify my life.

Does anyone else play around with pick/choose from others work to make their own 'perfect storm' Mod for themselves?

Me and the wolfpack I play with have an internal mod which includes some of the most popular mods and is compatible with the available UI's, sound mods and graphic mods (core mod then pick and choose your UI etc..) Our mod packs into about 20 megs and we update it and distribute it to the guys/gals. We use it so everyone playing MP has the same install with the maps we play.

I think its a pretty well rounded piece of work, hesitant to release for everyone because of the patch. Will for sure after the patch as I already have permission from the fine modders to release their work as part of a package.

This is an interesting question. Firstly, I've not edited any files to make any super mod myself (but am considering it, there are a couple of mods i'm just dying to use together!)

Does anyone think its time to try and compile some of the modders work together and create a big mod? I know it involves permission from each modder involved, but do others think its something that at this point would benefit the community, or should we leave it until the next patch?

Reason I ask is I was thinking of doing just that, asking some modders for permission and creating a single mod package that bundles together all the popular mods together. I'm planning on getting the editor all loaded tonight, and then start working on my own mods in the coming weeks too... anyway. let me know

Honestly I don't think its worth it. In a week or two the whole file will be useless.

If anything just trade it amongst your friends.

I could have released super mod 4 weeks ago, its the damn patch we are waiting for!

One thing you want tho is not just a copy and paste of other peoples work. You want to build something that has some originality like GWX or TMO. Not only were these compilations of great work, but also a unique way to play found only through that mod.

Default agreed

cant get working yet till all patched up. then we have to look forward to what will be broken in the next patch . But yea i make mods. me and my brother did a mega for sh4. He is buying sh5 when the patch comes out. I'm already modding it myself just not releasing much until the patch. after the patch a compatible mod pack would be nice. especially for all us mulitplayer people. My mod is only textures atm so probably wont change in the patch. feel free to use , just give credit.

My Personalized Super Mod is now HUGE.. well over 500 MB and I haven't added the radio or gramophone files to it either.

These are what are in it now...

AilBubbles 1.0 Micro
AilRain 1.0
Conus' Graphic Mod 1.2
Impurity Blue
Killer Tubes_Better_Texs
DiveDepthFix_by_coasterdigi
McHub532s SH4 German Stopwatch for SH5 v 1.0.0
McHub532s Sub Pictures v 1.0.0
MightyFine Crew Mod 1.2.1 Alt Faces
Reduced Mission Tonnage v02
No Damn Bubbles, No Damn Halo Mod
sobers multi color mod
sobers rusty floor
sobers hatch mod
emtguf - Periscope rework V 1.7
NewUIs_TDC_2_1_0_alt_officer_wounded_by_naights
MightyFine Less Annoying Footsteps 1.0
Nauticalwolf's Interior Mod V 1.0
MiniChrono
Reboots Hot Soup V 1.1

Those mods that are larger I cannibalized what I like out of them.. modified a few of them also.. the smaller ones are 100% copied.

This is a lot of fun. Taking this and that from this or that mod and playing around and finding just exactly what I want my sub to look like. It's really evolving into something I spend more time and have more fun doing.. than playing the actual game.

Note: I get no conflicts or errors and everything works perfectly smooth together. After I load up the gramophone files, the radio files and TheDarkWraith's UI mods I drop this mod on top and... tada.
