If you want to play with friends (the more the better, 4 players limit though) or with random people on the internet, it's VERY fun, but after a while it gets kinda repetitive and dull and whenever you get to finish the game there is nothing you can do about it... borderlands is somewhat short but if you play like 2-3 hours a day max you'll have a few days of guaranteed fun playtime... if you have the $$$ then buy the 3 DLCs that are released, I've been told they pretty much double the places, time, etc. of the first borderlands.

Frankly I wouldn't "pickup game" it as it is going to be ninja looters and the usual ****heads. It is also grindtastic, especially getting good guns, which is why people were modding their save games.

does it have to be on steam though?

my parents think steam is a virus and are paranoid like that. i would prefer it to be a low profile game, not popping up all the time saying ZOMG U GOTA UPDATE!

It's funny your parents think steam is a virus. You should educate them on the matter.

It doesn't use steam. If it did the Direct2Drive website for the game would say "Uses Steam DRM" Which it doesnt.

Also you can set steam to run offline by updating the game 100% and then setting it into offline mode.

Ya they are only half right, its more spyware than a virus. Personally I don't let it near my system if I can avoid it.

To me it felt like an MMORPG without the MMO. There's plenty of guns and blowing stuff up, and it's fun for a while, but there's just barely enough story to hold it together, so everything starts to feel pointless and repetitive. Well, to me at least.

This is that game with something like 200,000 different gun combination's right? Seen some youtube gameplay and it looks awesome, but the gun combination's would give me a headache!

I got the PS3 version on release,(exactly the same game as the PC ,just different system), and I love it - I still fire it up when I want some gratuitous violence ,you'd want to pick up the addons as well ,(other than the roxxy one ,its crap), The Zombie Island of Doctor Ned is a must get.

I think this sums it up very well. I played 5 or 8 hours before quitting. Hellgate had the same problem. non-MMO MMO-styled games suck imo. The point of these kinds of games is to just grind and get better. If the game is too dull for me to even care then it just doesn't work. I'd rather play Diablo 2 or Titan Quest for this kind of fix. The more people you get to play with you the better.
