Default My boot is slow - just like me..

Hello all..

Started a new career from Wilhelmshaven '40 in a shiny new VIIB

However - at flank speed it can only reach 12 knots in calm weather and it can barely keep the depth when I am submerged - although im sailing 3 knots..

I have GWX and SH3 Commander with Sab+Mal enabled.. I dont know whether its Sab or Mal or not, I see no red writing or anything damaged in the management screen..

Is there something wrong with game, or did someone put sugar in the fuel tank?

Hope you can help with this..

P.S. Its been going on for 3 patrols now..

I'd check for sugar in the fuel tank matey I usually start with a VIIB and at flank speed I get 17-18 knots out of her. That and make sure Bernard isn't in control of the diesel engines.

If you have SH Commander then you probably have the "malfunction/sabotage" option on mate which means someone tampered with your boat while at port. Like already mentioned you should be able to do 17-18 knots at flank speed with a VIIB which is by far my favorite U-boat! Beware at those speeds you better find a gas station soon cause you will be dry as a martini before you know it!

Given your settings in Commander, it's probably "sugar in the tank" as you put it. Should be pushing 18 knots in good weather.

EDIT:

Also, Immelman is right about fuel consumption. I don't recall what the nominal cruising speed should be, but "balls to the wall" in a Uboat might run you out of fuel before you can make it back to base.

Oh yes, and welcome aboard Subsim, DeMeza.

No you won't see this. You don't get a report of the malfunction. It's an in game limitation.
It's up to you as the captain to figure out if your boat is performing correctly or not.
It happening 3 patrols in a row?
Dunno mate, maybe that's just real bad luck.

I will try and turn sab off tomorrow when I have some gaming time..

Is it possible to turn sabotage off while im on a patrol or do I have to dock first?

You will have to dock first before you can turn sab off as with most of the things in commander you need to be at dock for them to take effect I think anyway, would someone be able to clarify this?

I would strongly stress that you make sure you are in port before changing anything in terms of mods - otherwise you run the distinct possibility of it refusing to load and suffering a CDT each time you try and load your game.

Maybe if you cut down on the second and third helpings of Kasekuchen and Blechkuchen while you are in port, your speed might improve? Remember the gross tonnage of a Type VIIb is supposed to be 753 tons including the Kaluen!!

Jus sayin

With all that running around at Flank, maybe you blew an engine.

Something is seriously wrong here..

Started a new career, some type of boat, same settings. except that I turned Sab+Mal off..

But the boat is still only steaming away at 13 knots flank speed? Argh!

What is wong with this?

Have you been submerged?

If so you may be running on one diesel/screw only whilst the other one charges the batteries.

Nope both diesels at max, and batteries fully charged.. This is getting strange..
