Default Silent War

Has anyoneelse got/played 'Silent War' by Compass Games? A very excellent board game about the entire Pacific Submarine war. The game contains eveery sub which took part, + some Dutch and British ones.
A card for each sub small cardstock with various numbers etc for it's tactical, transit attack strengths. Various charts, and counters for the Jap shipping are there. Several campaigns and single patrol scenarios make it a verycomplete game simulation. I bought this ladt year. Downloads are there also with more small scenarios
By the way, It is a solitaire game. I love it!!

My old man has it, actually. I've considered giving it a read a few times, but it always seems a bit daunting for the short times I usually end up visiting for. One of these days I'll actually look it over in depth and decide if it's something worth investing in; I think I'm relegated to solo games for the time being, because the first attempt at introducing the girlfriend to Axis & Allies was a bit less than fruitful, so I know I won't be getting as far as the gems like Richtofen's War or Blitzkrieg... My poor Avalon Hill collection...

On a side note, the last few times I've been home, dad and I have had a blast with Memoir '44 and its expansions. It's not very deep as far as traditional "war games" go, but it's great to sit down with for an afternoon. The plus is that you can fit several games into one sitting, so I just think of it as more of a 'diet' version, but it still has plenty of room for tactical shenanigans on the battlefield scale!

Look on boardgamegeek at 'the hell of stalingrad' shows as a 2-4player but there is actually a solo scenario on the manufaturers web site. There is also 'Field Commander Rommel' a nice little solitaire game and also to read on boardgamegeek. I've been gaming for many years now and have a fair collection although mostly I play with two friends.

If you're up to it, create scenarios based on those included in the game. If you do so, give credit to the original scenario designers and game. It could be really interesting!
