Welcome aboard! It's currently broken in campaign play, but hopefully will be fixed tomorrow with the patch.

If it's not, check the mod section in the next few days/weeks for a mod that'll restore it.

BACKUP EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU START DOING ANY CHANGES HERE!

I`ve got small workaround to get VIIB right from the start (which is also realistic since VIIBs were available from beginning of the war) but you need to start a new career.

Go into your silent hunter main directory.

X:\Silent Hunter 5\data\UPCDataGE\UPCCampaignData\

Open CareerOptions.upc

Edit:

[CareerOptions 1]
ID= TotalGermany39
[CareerOptions 1.Flotilla 1]
ID= C1Flotilla1
NameDisplayable= 2. Unterseebootsflottille
IDLinkFlotilla= 2ndFlotilla ; link to ID in Flotilla upc file
IDLinkUserPlayerUnits= F2VIIA to B, 1
FlotillaBriefingText=
FlotillaCommonality= 1

So your edited file will look like this:

[CareerOptions 1]
ID= TotalGermany39
[CareerOptions 1.Flotilla 1]
ID= C1Flotilla1
NameDisplayable= 2. Unterseebootsflottille
IDLinkFlotilla= 2ndFlotilla ; link to ID in Flotilla upc file
IDLinkUserPlayerUnits= F2VIIB, 1
FlotillaBriefingText=
FlotillaCommonality= 1

Go into you "Documents and settings" folder in your C:\ drive and find

...\SH5\data\cfg\UserPlayerContextGE\ where you delete CareerOptions.upc

All done, start a new career.

If it won`t work there`s one more small change in different file but I think this should be sufficient.

Glad it worked
If you want to start again in VIIA do the same steps - rename F2VIIB ->F2VIIA and delete CareerOptions.upc in "Documents and settings" again and start new career.

I`ve got another "fix" for VIIB & VIIC avaliability but I`m not 100% sure if you need to start a new career again. But I would suggest to start new career anyway.

Here`s the file:

http://www.filefront.com/16100193/Flotillas.upc

It`s easy to do, folders are same as before

X:\Silent Hunter 5\data\UPCDataGE\UPCCampaignData\ (installation directory)

Here you will overwrite old Flotillas.upc with new Flotillas.upc

Don`t forget to backup original file!

Then on the C:\ drive Documents & settings (same folder as before)

...\SH5\data\cfg\UserPlayerContextGE\ you delete Flotillas.upc.

Start a new career...

This should make VIIC available only between 09-10/01/1940. Should be also working when starting career vanilla (with VIIA) and then later you should get VIIB not VIIC.

I tried this and it crashes the game every time.

I dont understand why people want to sail the VIIB if the conning tower isent even correct and thus the model is broken.

Make sure you're not typing it exactly as it's there, that's just telling you to change FROM A TO B. This is what it should read when you're done editing:

Quote:
[CareerOptions 1]
ID= TotalGermany39

[CareerOptions 1.Flotilla 1]
ID= C1Flotilla1
NameDisplayable= 2. Unterseebootsflottille
IDLinkFlotilla= 2ndFlotilla ; link to ID in Flotilla upc file
IDLinkUserPlayerUnits= F2VIIB, 1
FlotillaBriefingText=
FlotillaCommonality= 1
Remember to start a new career. You only need to change that single (highlighted in green) character, not add the -> VIIB stuff.

If you delete Career options in your CFG folder it makes the game quit right when you select a new mission, jus' sayin.

No it doesn`t...

I was afraid that ppl that don`t understand difference between "Main game instalation folder" and "Documents & setting" folder will mess things up. I clearly said what you have to do.

I don`t know how to make guide easier here, so if you don`t understand basics here don`t even try to mod something.

Edit:
...Silent Hunter 5\data\UPCDataGE\UPCCampaignData\ (main game installation directory - here you will EDIT)
...SH5\data\cfg\UserPlayerContextGE\ (documents & settings directory - here you will DELETE)

See the difference?

Do you actually understand that you don`t have to write VIIA->VIIB?
You have to change it from VIIA TO VIIB...

And thx kylania, i hope they understand it better that way

I tried this method and i also crash out of the game or,nothing happens at all.I also tried using F5VIIB and F8VIIB to see if that would make any difference and i found i could start in the "Western Approaches" phase of the campaign.
I also wondered if one of the mods i have installed some how conflicted with this but i couldnt see anything obvious.

Thanks for your help

Hector.
