Default [REQ] Editable captains log

One think I miss is a logbook where one can enter its own messages, and maybe it is in the game, but I cant find it.

Looking thru the files, like in captain log.ini I see this for example:

Code:

It looks like there is something, but doesnt work nor enabled.
Because this goes way over my head, I hope someone with some extra time will pick this up, to make it usefull for offline reading, and posting here.

Johan
IMO the captains log is one of the "improvements" that was actually a giant leap backwards. Turning log entries into icons that you have to click to open ( and STILL have to scroll down more before you can read) was a grossly misguided, AND poorly implemented decision.

I also miss per patrol summaries, instead of choosing between only career or current patrol.

This is something I always hoped would be in SH3 and I'd really like to see in SH5. It would be great to sit in the captains quarters writing entries in your log book or reading back through your old logs, re-living memorable patrols.

If only I had the skills. Hopefully, this is possible and one of you great modders out there could look into it

I strongly support this idea of giving the log a personal touch!

I'm not so much into giving the log a personal touch (I'd rather spend my time hunting merchant shipping than personalizing my log entries) but I would like to eliminate the 'icon' journal we have now and go with something closer to SH3 where you can get a listing of which ships you sunk when on what patrol and what each patrol did etc.

I know TheDarkWraith has a journal in his UI mod, but for the life of me I can never make it work (the UI Mod). I was wondering if anyone knew of a seperate mod that just adds a working Captain's log?

The UI mod must work . Did you use the mod validator to see that its installed properly . When you download the UI mod it is found in .

NewUIs_TDC_6_9_0_ByTheDarkWraith\data\Applications

Enable the UI mod and then use the mod validator , the journal viewer is there also .

Hi!

The captains log in the NewUIs works fine. There is even an external application to view and edit the log entries (although that one cold handle more eye-candy, but I made a suggestion to TDW about that already).

The DMs (Destroyed Marks) do still not work properly, but TDW is on that one, too.

Thanks Sober, I'll have to give that a try. I just re-installed SH5 and have been playing catch up with my mods.

Ok I got TheDarkWraith's user interface to work and play nice with the other mods in the sandbox. I have to say it's amazing...I'm gong to have to re-learn to play the game, but it's still amazing. The Captain's log does work, save, and load correctly.
