Can't Surface

Greetings Gentlemen,

I really need some assistance.

I slinked into a port and took down some ships, and got back out.

Made it out of range of the patrol ships and told the crew to surface....cause air and battery were running out.

They surfaced but no watch went out (I could go to the bridge) and the CO2 is still rising. When I give the surface order the little progress square never completely fills...fills then empties over and over and over.

I've tried diving and ordering surface again but no go.

The Diesel engines are running and charging the battery but I just cant surface to get fresh air (oddly enough the compressed air has replenished).

I maxed out my crews morale and they are all happy, but now I can't surface. I swear to god if the answer is to save and reload (and hence lose all my morale) I'm gonna severely molest my monitor.

Please help if anyone knows what to do

Just had to reload anyway because my screen went black when I tabbed out to write the first post. (it had never done that to me before) and even after the load I still cant completely surface even though I'm on the freaking surface at the normal surface depth of 4-5meters....everything INCLUDING THE OPEN HATCH and me flapping the jolly on the bridge says were on the surface.

This is just lame.

The CO2 rising on the surface sounds like the good ol' CO2 rising on the surface bug, supposedly fixed in two weeks.

Generally a save and reload fixes that though. You might try Shift-U to see where the game thinks your captain is too.

Well lets hope they get it right this time

Shift U while I'm on the bridge takes me to the bridge. Reloading didn't fix it...gonna just have a break with the game and see what gives in a few days (or wait till they patch it).

Have you tried to dive again, and doing an emergency surface (SHIFT R)?

Yell : "BLOW BALAST ! Damn it."

If it doesn't work, threat your Chief with court martial thingy ...

I think this is the much feared "global warming" bug in which the CO2 level keeps rising....

Me, I cannot surface with the "S". The boat rises to 8 meters and stays there. I have to manually click the depthgauge to surface.

8 meters is the result of a mod. You can find the sub config file and edit it back to 5m.

The mod that I know tweaks this is:

[REL] Interior working dials (for SH5) by LucaGaeta
This mod was created to try to bring all the dials to operate properly
Version 1.2
cfg file to correct all the submarine to open the turret hatch up to 8 meters, to remain partly submerged

I've encountered this two and I believe it was due to a mod - I did discover if you pressed E to blow balast you should get round this

Im my game - modded such as it is I press F to go to perescope depth, C to crash dive, R to go to decks awash and E to suface completely

Try some of these if nothing else helps

I've tried the Emergency Surface command already and it didn't work. And all the mods I have installed are eye candy only so far (nothing that I'm aware of that changes the sub or its operation).

If you can't Ctrl & click 5m and get up enough to get air, just save and reload. Happened to me once, may have been weather related in my case.

I've tried all that, saving and reloading does nothing and setting manual depth does nothing unfortunately.
