Default We are in Shallow Waters Captain

That has to be most irritating voice... it's terrible! To me it sounds like it belongs in some Pirate game, you know... one complete with things like eye-patches!!!!

Could someone in Germany PLEASE get a group of friends together and do a voice mod? These voices don't even have German accents! Drives me freaking nuts.

You know something else? I am not playing this game because it just quit my mission on me because of a momentary drop in my internet connection. I like this game, I want to believe in it but come on... this is starting to look pathetic. I think there was a good intent from the developers to really break some ground and give us a good modernized sub sim, but it's becoming apparent to me that the budget just wasn't there. Either that, or they sat around drinking too much coffee, gossiping and not doing their jobs.

I even like the interface (although it's incomplete), I like everything about this game except for the fact that it's clearly unfinished and unpolished. This used to happen all the time with Flight Sims and... ughh... who cares about the customer eh? Yeah he didn't really need his money, afterall he was already wasting it playing video games... what a crock. Something needs to be done about games being published in this state, it's inexcusable.

(I still like the game, but it definitely is NOT worth the $69 I paid.)

Play with German language and English menus. No more worries about accents.

I play with German voices, and the gravelly voice of the navigator constantly calling that out in German isn't much better.

I play with the German voices, I don't speak German, and I still have the feeling that the German voice intonation of that line is way too "Piratey". Just a feeling. It's awful. Especially when I have to hear it every 5 minutes.

Maybe the way it's phrased. Talk about lack of military brevity code.

As for the last part of your post comparing this to flight sims...developers are smart. They know that there is a niche market for these types of games. Those who are going to buy, will buy a flawed product (although Ubi is really testing the limit with this piss poor product). Those who aren't interested in the genre won't buy even if it is flawless.

It's a lot different from an FPS where extra effort will attract more casual buyers. There comes a point of dimishing marginal returns from Ubisoft's SH5 work, and they reach that point, and stop there to let the modders do the rest.

I'm rather fond of the French expat guy from New Jersey who does the upgrades in port... (you know, the guy that stands outside the port gay bar with the other fellow dressed in his good uniform...)

TURN THE TRAVEL MODE ON this should call off all shallow/escort messages.

One interim solution is to just disable it. You can remove/rename the speech files.

It's MC_CR_NAV_09.ogg. You'd need to do it to all three folders (tension, normal, and whisper).

Yeah he does drive me whacky with his constant reminding of being in shallow waters. The bottom in SH5 is very uneven, and this contributes to this, which will constantly re-trigger him to report this.

Heh there is also a shallow water icon that shows too, and I notice there are two types, one of them having an exclamation point in it indicating you are in danger of running aground.

I never noticed the exclamation-pointed shallow water symbol! Thanks for the tip, "SaberHawk" as I'm adverse to installing any mods - like, "depth under keel" - with a patch due sometime in April.

No, men on the uboat did not sound like Cap'n Bligh ready to over take the tripled masted Flying Eagle for that coveted booty!
