Default Disqualification justified?

Abraham versus Dirrell, Dirrell leads clearly by points, Abraham was frustrated all evening long. Then for some reason - I think he hopped around too much and lost stand, or Abraham already had landed a hit before that sent him down - Dirrell went down on one knee, and Abraham accepts the invitation and immediately fires a swinger at his head, knocking him out. He then gets disqualified. As I understand it, that fight was not interrupted at the time of the hit.

What does the rules say? Is striking at the opponent illegal if he positions his head below a certain height?

Even if he would have wanted to stop the blow, I wonder if Abraham would have been able to do so, as I see it he fired his blow in a spur and by reflex. I assume there is a reason why referees often say: "protect yourself at all times."

Well I've watched the important scene now a few times, and the referee just can't react fast enough. You see when Dirrell slipped, he already wanted to stop the fight, but the punch from Abraham came so fast, there was simply no way he could've done that in time. What are you gonna do, after one fighter has taken a hit that knocked him out, continue where they left off? Sure the fight wasn't interrupted at the time he landed his punch, but I think (not sure) if your opponent doesn't go down from a punch you're not allowed to hit him, and I guess Abraham knows the rules, so I guess he must've thought Dirrell did go down because of the punch he landed before the slip and for him it was fair game. The way I see it Dirrell was slipping already as he took that punch, so I think the decision was right. To really clear this up I guess footage from a high speed camera would be nice

Irritating is a scene from another camera, there you see Dirrell still consicouss after Abraham's blow, he then looked, seemed to think about what to do, and THEN raised his hand to the head and fell down. I did not find it on video, just saw it on TV, twice. Very irritating, I would not rule out that it all was stage acting, eventually. Which may explain why Abraham not only became angry, but was really furious after the fight.

Close call, hard to tell.

Stage act or not.

from the POV i had it looked legit.

no contact to a downed man.

Disqualification was justified.

Sometimes after you take a strong blow to the head it takes time for you to fall unconscious... Also when someone gets knocked out 9/10 times they receive a concussion. Fighting with a concussion = fail and extremely dangerous
