Hello All....I am a battered survivor of the windows 7 battles. I was finally able to install SH3 using the excellent instructions of Tony JF at forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/.../5 (if that helps) and SH3 is chugging right along. I installed it the the C: Program Files (x86) before I was aware that some people recommend to install in another file.
I am now trying to install GWX 3. I have downloaded all 8 files and run GWX3.exe. Whenever I do this, I get the following error message: "setup needs the next disk, if the files on this disk can be found in a folder other than the one displayed below enter the correct path or click browse." Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks |

Put all the .bin files and the .exe file into one folder then run the .exe, it should work then.

As above plus GWX3.0 can only be installed into a fresh install of SH3, patched to 1.4b.
Click on my sig and you will be taken to the GWX website where detailed installation instructions can be found ![]() |

Thanks for the quick responses
I previously had all 8 files in one folder. Did not work. It was in that configuration that I got that message. I had added SH3 CDR (believe that is what it is called) before I tried to install GWX maybe that is why GWX is being so stubborn. I'm on housework duty right now so will have to let you know when I have been dismissed Back to the broom |

It could be that one of the parts is corrupt. Check using the md5mate tool and the verification codes on this page to see if they are all ok.

Still no joy. Deleted SH3, ran SFRemove, rebooted, installed in C:, installed 1.4b, overwrote the 5 SH3 files with NO DVD rld-sh14. Ran like a well oiled machine. Had the 8 GWX files in a seperate folder on desktop. Checked all files with MD5Mate and all were valid. Still got the same note as before and GWX did not install. What do you suggest?

Perform a registry clean before attempting again
Also ensure you have deleted the save game files from C\MyDocs |

I hope you made another folder to put it in!!! Using just C:\ as your SH3 base folder is gonna make a mess of your drive. Not to mention that the OS posses some restrictions on users that want to put files in the c: root folder. Make sure the install path during SH3 installation was atleast "C:\SilentHunterIIIorsomething".

Reporting SUCCESS!!!!
First thanks for all the helpful suggestions. What had occurred were a series of problems. First, I ran MD5Mate as Pisces had suggested. I found 2 corrupt bin files, one of which happened to be bin 7. Filled with expectation I installed replacements for the two corrupt bin files and guess what...........I got the same note that I had mentioned previously, but I knew that I had good bin files. In all my futile attempts to correct to the problem I had downloaded several copies of the GWX3 files. The 2 replacements bin files were from one of my many GWX3 downloads. . Since these files were duplicates of previously downloaded files they showed the letter 2 in their name e.g. GWX3-7 (2) rather than GWX3-7. I didn't think that the 2 in brackets would make a difference, but it did. I deleted the bracketed numbers and BINGO GWX3 loaded beautifully, and functions just as well. Hope this was clear. Again thanks |
