Default On behalf of a newbie: Thanks!

Hey everyone. I recently got Silent Hunter III after reading Oberleutnant's Let's Plays on several other message boards. I heard positive things about the game (especially in regards to realism) but was always put off by the infamous learning curve. I read somewhere to go ahead and install GWX3.0 so I did, and that is what I have been using since I plan to always play the game with it.

I have made it through all of the Naval Academy missions. Didn't think it would take me all night but I did. Didn't exactly get the best scores, though. Anyway, I registered here because I was going to ask how to do the Convoy mission because, even though I managed to sink enough ships, I have so far been unable to evade the Destroyer, the Trawler and their depth charges. Yeah, I know you can take out the Destroyer and even the Trawler pretty easily, but I want to be able to prepare myself for the real deal when I play Career mode.

Thankfully, just a little looking around helped me to see what I was doing wrong. I didn't have silent running going, plus I did not realize you should only Ahead Flank/Hard to Port/Starboard when you're being depth charged. I was diving and running along making noise so that is why I could never seem to lose the Destroyer and the Trawler.

It has been pretty frustrating so far and I imagine when I reach the point where I am playing on 100% realism like Oberleutnant it will be even more . Just manually targeting itself looks pretty daunting. Fortunately this is an awesome community with lots of guides and tutorials. Thanks a lot from a newbie, I guess is the point of this post!

I do have one question though: Is there a way to change the layout of threads so the first post comes first? For some reason threads here start with the latest post first and work their way back. I've never seen that before.
