Hi all
How to set up a NETGEAR router in SH5 You will need a pen and paper Firstly go to control panel>internet connections>local area connection, then click the support tab, it will read like the following:- IP address 192.168.0.5 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway 192.168.0.1 Default Gateway = router address this is the number you use to gain access to your router menu so now write this down IP address is the number allocated to the computer that you are using so now write it down Now close all the boxes down to desk top Now open your internet explorer and type in the top address bar, type in the default gate way number and a box should open giving you access to your router menu after you have typed in your router name and password Now we need to set up the services and the port numbers to be opened within the router menu, it is on the left hand side of the screen under CONTENT FILTERING, SERVICES 4th one down Open up this menu and click add a CUSTOM SERVICE, top box is name of the service lets call it SH5-1 Next box down is the TYPE, click TCP Next box down is START PORT type in the number 19000 Next box down is FINISH PORT again type in the number 19000 Now click apply you have now created a service in the router only 4 more to go As before open up this menu and click add a CUSTOM SERVICE, top box is name of the service lets call it SH5-2 Next box down is the TYPE, click UDP Next box down is START PORT type in the number 19001 Next box down is FINISH PORT again type in the number 19001 As before open up this menu and click add a CUSTOM SERVICE, top box is name of the service lets call it SH5-3 Next box down is the TYPE, click UDP Next box down is START PORT type in the number 19002 Next box down is FINISH PORT again type in the number 19002 As before open up this menu and click add a CUSTOM SERVICE, top box is name of the service lets call it SH5-4 Next box down is the TYPE, click UDP Next box down is START PORT type in the number 3074 Next box down is FINISH PORT again type in the number 3174 As before open up this menu and click add a CUSTOM SERVICE, top box is name of the service lets call it SH5-5 Next box down is the TYPE, click TCP Next box down is START PORT type in the number 3074 Next box down is FINISH PORT again type in the number 3174 You have now set up your services to use in the FIREWALL RULES which is the next part of the set up we will cover Now click firewall rules and add a service Top box is the service you require choose SH5-1 from the drop down menu Next box is ACTION set this to ALWAYS ALLOW Next box is LAN USERS set this to SINGLE ADDRESS Next box is the start number 4 smaller boxes in the boxes type in the number of the IP ADDRESS of your computer the one you wrote down at the start of this instruction something like 192.168.0.5 192 first box 168 sec box 0 third box and 5 last box You have set only 1 up a FIREWALL RULE FOR SH5-1 You now have to repeat this process for the other 4 FIREWALL RULES that we created earlier this has set up the OUTBOUND SERVICES The INBOUND SERVICES are set up in the same way using the SH5 services that we created earlier Once you have done all of the above for both sets of services OUTBOUND and INBOUND 10ports in all The last thing to do is set up the DMZ server if you DON,T do this it will not work to host games ROUTER MENU left hand side of your screen under the heading WAN SETUP here you will find the DMZ SERVER listing and as before the 4 boxes need the number IP ADDRESS of your computer that you are using I.E 192.168.0.WHATEVER and you will be good to go One last silly foot note there is one more port that should be open by default which is HTTP ![]() THIS IS THE SET UP FOR A NETGEAR DG834G V.3 Hope it helps Regards Brutal |
