When one starts a new campaign it's possible to select a difficulty. Has anyone an idea what these setting changes?
Are these the realism settings? I always thought you'd have to change them from the main menu?

I am 99% certain that the difficulty option is the same as the options for realism, but with presets. So afaik, if you set up the realism options and then chose a difficulty level, then the initial settings are overridden with presets.
If this is so, I don't like it, seem unintuitive to me. |

Indeed, a strange way to handle things. Especially since you can't change custom difficulty from the "new campaign-screen".

When you are in the u-boat pen, go to options, set it to your liking (it will say custom in the box at the top) then click on ''apply changes''. If you don't do it like this, you will be stuck with one of the three defaults. Hope this helps.

As said above one way is to set a custom difficulty in the uboat pen. I changed the settings in GameplaySettings.cfg found in SH5\data\Cfg folder. Just tweak between true / false to your liking.
I modified the realistic preset so I could still use external camera to make some awesome screenshots ![]() Quote:
