I can't seem to find textures to mod, I wanted to change the torp skins, and some of the floor plates in some of the compartments, and some steal colors here and there. but I can't find anything, all I see are DDS files, and I have no idea what those are, or even how to open them.
also, I'm learning how to use blender 3d, but I still need to find and import copies of the subs' 3d interior maps, anyone know where they are and how put em into blender??? |

all the skins are in the .dds files. You need special programs or plugins for photoshop to open those. Check the tool guides in the sticky threads in the mod forums.

I can only help with the .dds files.
This is what I do: 1) View .dds files with AMD/ATI dev tool "TheCompressonator" 32bit or 64bit (free registration required for downloading tools). 2) Open .dds files into 32bit photoshop with an Nvidia plugin 3) Save out rgb+alpha with .tif format (discard layers in save as .tif dialogue) 4) Open "TheCompressonator" software and load the .tif file 5) Right click loaded image and select RGB for files without alpha ,Alpha for files with only an alpha, or RGB & Alpha for files that has both a rgb and an alpha channel 6) Menu -> Save as original = save as. One can choose 3-4 compression methods, I can't tell the difference. I used the Ati compression and it works ingame. http://developer.nvidia.com/object/p...s_plugins.html http://ati.amd.com/developer/compressonator.html Edit: Could someone please write a similar how-to list for exporting polygon models off 3dstudio Max 2009 with a gr2 exporter plugin? ![]() |

Gimp opens DDS files.
You need to get a plugin for it, but it works just fine. |

I do not use 3dstudiomax nor do I have experience or knowledge about any gr2/granny exporter. I just want to get a clear view so to speak about the current possibilities. There seem to be a free granny plugin, but I would like to know more. If everything works and such.
