Default Suddenly insane damage modelling on ships. huh?!

Okay so, during my entire first campaign, every single ship i sunk (no joke) got a tiny hole in the hull from my torpedoes, and sank like a log, every single time, no change.
And up until now in my Happy Times campaign too.
This also happened after installing countless mods, neither of which affected the npc ships health, floatation, flooding or physics. Nor my own torpedoes.

Now all of a sudden, i stumbled upon a convoy of 20 ALONE merchants.
So naturally i'm awesome enough to manage to sink a ship with every torpedo.
WAIT what? a single torpedo? With unmodded torpedoes or ship hitpoints?
Not only that, but i saw ships BREAK IN HALF, i saw a destroyer where my torpedo hit the bow, and it BROKE OFF, i saw a tanker sink with its stern straight up in the air (it was in very shallow waters though, so it kinda freaked out and bounced around a bit as the bottom half scraped along the seafloor lol).

Whats up? Secret patch? I do recall a launcher update this morning, but that shouldnt have anything to do with the game files, right?
I mean i played and sank a few hundred thousand tonnes and never saw ANYTHING like that.
Then now today all of a sudden, bam, at least 5 unique ship-breaks-up effects.
Anyone else?

Did you run over any power ups, or eat the special soup?

Snippiness aside, that does sound interesting. I wonder if there's some behaviour in the engine that is causing variable damage according to campaign circumstances. Are you positive there isn't anything in the mods you've downloaded that is modifying torpedo values?

Well, the only torpedo mod is the one that removes wakes from electric torpedoes, but that only contains the file for the electric torpedoes, and i used normal torpedoes so even if it somehow altered damage by accident, i didnt use those torpedoes!

Torpedoes!

Yeah i had something similar too, but i have installed arclight mod.

Torpedoed a tanker at the stern and the stern broke right under the aft superstructures. It then sat dead in the water with his ass pulled away but didnt sank so i finished it with deck gun's rounds.
