Default Just a thought

Hi chaps,

I have been spending some time lately editing/combining the folowing two file sh3.sdl and commands.cfg. I have a "combined" sh3.sdl to work with 5 mods and a commads.cfg to works with several mods. These two files are very frequently modded it would seem.

my current combined sh3.sdl currently works with these mods.

Lifeboats and Debris,
Animated Sub Pens
British Asdic
Urfisch's new effects mod
FM's new interiors

my current combined commands.cfg (english) works with these mods.

FM's New Interiors
Anvart's Flags, Pennants, FuMO30 etc.
Opening Conning Tower

Part of the problem is identifying what's changed or been added to either/or of these files and it occured to me that it might be an idea to have a sticky thread where modders could post such changes with common frame of reference to the "vanilla" v1.4 versions. This would make the task very much easier.

I wish I had a knowledge of how to accomplish the same with dat files!

Just an idea,

Best Regards

Aces

Edit: Of course some modders provide this information in their documentation and/or produce fixes which is great and much appreciated but then a new "must have" mod comes along and it's back down to combining files. I enjoy enjoy getting mods to work together but sometimes the info isn't there to assist the process and remove much experimentation.

Hiya,

I do use Skywas' S3Editor but I'm at a loss spotting differences in dat files, for example Urfisch mentions adding the new "controllers" from his type 7 dat file to another mod's type 7 dat file, if I knew what entries in the dat file they were I would do it but I don't. Config and sdl files are fine, most modders seem to add new entries to the bottom of sdl files and I use winmerge to compare and find differences in cfg files.

If anyone is interested I can upload the files I have done, I did already post a link in another thread to the combined sdl but since then I have added a couple more mods, namely Urfisch's sdl setting and BritishAsdic settings. I can also post my combined commands_en.cfg.

Regards

would you like to share your combined sh3.sdl file? I'm in desperate need for something like that.
