I had SH4 with patch 1.3 installed on my computer. I have not played the game for a while but I noticed that patch 1.4 was available. I read somewhere that I was to uninstall and then reinstall the gane prior to loading the version 1.4 patch.
I can not uninstall the game. I tried using the link in the programs area of XP and the uninstall process stopped, said that I was currently running the game. I tried again no joy; rebooted the system - no joy; tried the add/remove programs option of Windows - no joy. Each time I received the same error message. I then manually removed the game by deleteing it from the Windows program file using the file manager/exploer feature of Windows. I them loaded my CD to install, but the software acted as though the game was still found on my computer. Now, I can neither load or remove the game from/to my computer. Any ideas? Tom |

I am not sure what you need to do with SH4.
With SH3, you need to uninstall the game with the disc in place, and use the uninstall program on the disc. After that you need to clean your registry, and reboot. In my case, I had to remove the registry key in the InstallShield folder as the stupid program kept reinstalling it in the registry. Then you need to remove or rename your SH4 folder in you documents, and manually remove any files left in your game folder. Always install outside of the program or program(86) folders. If this doesn't work, I would next try the Revo Uninstaller. And, welcome aboard. I think the correct forum is the main SH4 forum, not the mod workshop.

Ah the good 'ol XP.
![]() Try installing the game once again. If the control panel wont remove it for you, than it might think that the game is already removed. Probably some file is missing or the registry is messed up. If you succeed in installing it again, de-install it completely. After that I would suggest that you carefully study this thread and try the described procedure: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=133290 After you're done. Install the game once more, and if possible get the UBM add-on so you can enjoy all the latest supermods. UBM add-on can be installed right on top of the v1.0. It will bring your game to v1.5. |

To both of you thank you for your help. I agree that it is most likely a registery problem. last night Iagain tried to deinstall the game and it stopped at the same point telling me that i currently running the game. This can not happen becuase I manulayy removed the game from my computer. The DVD of the game will not let install or remove the game.
I'll try the other forum. Again, thanks for your help. Tom |

Once you delete the game manually, you also delete the information needed to uninstall it. Peabody

You could try using the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. The page talks about removing Microsoft Office, but the utility works for all programs.
