Default 5 hours of gameplay gone.

I played for about 5 hours earlier today. Come back now and all my saves are lost and replaced with ones from yesterday.

This is the 3rd time this has happened. I am back to about the 4 hours progress I had last Monday.

I either can't get into the game for one reason or another or my saves get lost.

I've had it with this. This is the worse experience I have ever had with a game.

I am demanding a refund from Steam.

TURN GAME SAVE SYNC OFF.

Then the server saves will not over write you local saves.

I see that my local saves in the SH5 folder in MyDocs still has my last campaign saves in it.

Is there a way to reactivate them?

backup your last save and:

"For those that hang at the menu during synchronization, turn of synchronization in the login screen first, then quit the launcher/game. Then goto
64-bit:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher
32-bit:
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher
and verify in settings.ini if this is set:
SaveOnline=false
Last, delete the storage folder (this is another cache folder). This folder apparently contains faulty data, causing the launcher to download . gg!
Note: even if you turned off the sync save game feature, the game apparently (and incorrectly) still tries to sync the games (although it does not upload any new ones anymore). If you do not delete the storage folder, the launcher will STILL try download your last uploaded save games (even though the SaveOnline=false) from Ubi's server. I suspect this is why it hangs (if you have later save games locally, they are not in sync). By deleting it, it will no longer do so.

Then put the last save back

heh...anyone remember the names of those who argued so forcefully that
synced saves would make save game more reliable?

LOL its imposible for something to be more reliable, if you add more things that can go wrong. go figure.

I have looked everywhere and cannot find that option. When I click the SHV icon, the launcher starts...but no option is there, just the input fields for username and password. After that, the game starts...and no option anywhere for me to "turn game save sync off" anywhere that I can find.

Please help me find this option. The first person who does gets to be my friend for life (well, at least for the rest of the day...unless of course my Digital Friend Management...DFM...is acting up)

See pic below :-

On the box that says "Launching" top right hand corner is a little gear icon. click that. and you get option to turn game sync off.

Problem with turning off sync saves is when the server boots you off you don't get a save at that point.

I never got booted, so im unable to confirm. but the game still auto saves, every 20mins so you only lose upto 20mins of progression. instead of 5hrs.
