How do I successfully hit a target with my torpedos?

Hi guys, every time i shoot at a target i miss, in SH4 i never used the tdc, i never liked all that, i used to just line the boat up, lock on target and shoot and let the game do all the calculations and was pretty successful aswell, i know some of u dont play like that but i used to love it. Now my question is can i do the same with sh5? i mean as far as i can see the game dont even have a tutorial on how to use all these new buttons and features let alone a torp shooting tutorial. As i said above i cant hit a bull in the ass with a barn shovel so any help would be nice! Thanks
