Is there a way to get regular weather updates in GWX3?
I was wondering if there was any mods out there that allow us to get hourly (or any other interval) weather updates, ideally when submerged.Personally I liked being able to get weather updates when submerged in the stock game, but I guess GWX removed this to maintain realism, and so now the crew is unaware of what is happening above. The reason I am asking is because I just ran into a pretty fierce storm approaching AN26 and I may have to dive before long, visibility is about 300m and its getting dark.
It wouldnt surprise me if real captains had a weather channel? ![]() I am one of those rare people that still likes to keep in touch with the weather, pretty regularly ![]()

![]() ![]() Most people complained about being able to ask for the weather while submerged. It's impossible to tell at 50 meters what's going on. Quote:

![]() In fact, they were the weather channel. BdU relied on captains to send in regular updates so they could tell where to route other u-boats. All that said, I know for a fact it can be changed back, even if I don't know how. It shouldn't take long before someone comes along who is actually helpful. ![]()

at PD i judge by the movement of the depth gauge needle how stormy it is above me.
usually bad visibility go hand in hand with stormy seas, so its a fairly reliable tool...

I just tried it, I've also got GWX3. Ctrl+W got me nothing that I can find. Where is the weather info showing up for you?

I don't know, in my Command_en file there is this lane:
[Cmd261] Name=Report_weather Ctxt=1 MnID=0x3F250006 Key0=0x57,Cc,"W" so if you press Ctrl+W you get weather report. |

Interesting. My stock install has this: [Cmd261] Name=Report_weather Ctxt=1 MnID=0x3F250006 without the line that I'm assuming maps it to Ctrl+W. My GWX3 install has exactly the same. I'm pretty sure the only mod I have enabled with GWX that might have taken it out of the original GWX3 Commands_en.cfg is Integrated Orders but it seems odd that the IO mod would take out a command that was in the GWX3 install. *shrugs* Maybe it did, lol. It's never occurred to me to check the weather when I'm submerged because I didn't think the game would have an option for it. @Paul - adding that fifth line Key0=0x57,Cc,"W" might get you your weather updates, then, but I'd let the more experienced tweakers chime in on it first. At any rate, goes without saying - if you try it, BACK UP the cfg file or write down what you changed and where so you can change it back if it screws something up! |

Thanks for the replies.
I think that the movement of the UBoat just under the surface is a FAIRLY reliable way to determine the sea conditions, and yes...this USUALLY indicates poorer visibility too,but not always. I will wait for something more concrete to develop,mod/tweak wise ![]()
