Since they dont attack and just fly straight over you...
I loved the tension of having to crash dive when I picked up incoming aircrft in SH3. Would be fantastic to be able to get this again in SH5. Would it be difficult to do ? |

Planes are too much trouble to deal with.
I'm glad they don't attack. |

Realism? How about no savegames :P
I did have 1 out of 10 spotted airplanes attack me though, it turned around and dropped 2 depth charges at me ![]() But yeah, at least half of them should attack. But who knows, maby they are on their way to another important mission, and just relay your position to their HQ instead? :P |

All of the planes I have seen have been Hurricanes. I wouldn't expect ASW on them, at least in 39/40. I would expect them to strafe at least though.
They are probably just recon and radioing you in. |

I have to say I prefered the planes in SH3 because they actually attacked you. Since SHV is supposed to be more immersive its a little strange they don't attack. It did take me about 2 days to figure this out though, just thought my crash dives were effective, that is until one flew right over my head!!

![]() Hurricanes undertaking ASW was one thing that really annoyed me with SH3. A Hurricat, on the other hand, would be welcome....from Q2 1941 at least. |

Yes I think before anybody starts getting over-zealous on this it'd be nice to confirm or deny whether later in the stock campaign the air role changes.
At the moment, while the aircraft appear to do little, when I started remaining surfaced as they buzzed me I thought I saw an increase in the number of single Warships I started to run into (this was patrolling the east coast of GB). Now, that could have just been coincidence, but either way I started diving after being buzzed and remaining submerged and changing direction for a few hours and the aircraft didn't come back so much and the Warships diminished. As I said, we'd need more data to be sure but it could just be that in this instance we actually have a feature working nicely.... Difficult to believe I know. r. |
