Default Two questions.

Mission Goal (not campaign goal):
How far can i stray from that "checkpoint"? Is it around 100km like in SH4.

So far i've been lucky enough to find a ship somewhat near it and sink it, thus completing it. What happens if i can't find a ship? Is there a time on station that i can complete instead?

Should i even care about the mission goal? Seems like the overall campaign goals are more important. What do i get for completing it that single mission goal? More renown?

Also, BDU never has anything else for me so far. They just say go do whatever when i radio them.

Refit or RTB:

Since it's taking more torpedos to sink stuff in this version, i find myself high tailing it to the nearest base (can't recall it's name.. it's alittle island north of willem) to get more torpedos and head back to the campaign goal area instead of RTB all the way home.

When should i call it quits and head home for R&R? Will i miss out on anything by staying out so long? Obviously if i have damage, its home port time.. but if i'm still 100%, i see no point as it will just advance the date a week or two.

For the 100,000 tons out in the southern approaches I got credit for that mission for things I sunk in the English Channel.

As far as Refitting, I haven't yet. Just 6 horrible patrols (I'm not even in the top 100 any more, though I have a feeling a lot of them are cheating). I've got a new boat and apparently 2 medals, but nothing too impressive or known to me. It's Jan '40 now for me.

I dont mean the areas of operation (.ie campaign goals) thats self explanatory. I'm talking about the specific "mission" objective that you got before setting out. The little checkpoint the yellow exclamation point refers to at the top of the main interface.

If you sink something near it, it turns green then goes away.

Just wondering if i should even care about those mini-goals.

Oooh those, yeah, I've always managed to complete them "accidentally" while working on the missions actually. Though one patrol one I just circled it till it went green. Took three circuits.

I'm in Dec '39 with 270K tons and haven't appeared in the leaderboard, though it looks like I should have.

You need to click the little @ symbol to add yourself, it appears to be instant.
