Default Blockade of Germany

Game seems pretty cool so far, a few bugs, but alot seem to be fixed by reloading a save, or on occasion restarting game (still, 30 to 50 dollars for this game is not ok when its clear ubi didnt even play their own game before release [how could you NOT see the obs scope extend after every time loading a game and morale going to zero unless you never played your game before charging us money!])

anyways, im trying to complete the blockade of germany mission, where you have to kill some ships blocking (derr) german ships. ALSO theres an objective within it where you have to destroy a carrier. When i was at port, im almost certain the carrier patrol area was up north around where the blockade is, now its down south western UK, around where the "british supplies" mission was. again i could be wrong, but ive been all over the carrier patrol router that the map says, and i cant find it, found a group of 4 escorts (anybody think DD's getting killed with one torp, and merchants taking at least 2 is stupid) So can anyone help me on where to find the carrier?

Also, whats the advantage of using the "pistol" option on torpedoes, does turning off the magnetic senor cause more damge, cause the torp has to actually run into the ship AND then explode instead of just getting close and causing splash damage? (very very violent bad deadly splash damage mind you)

I hade the same problem except i never saw the patrol zone for the carrier up north. The orders says the carrier patrols the Brittish Islands which means the southern patrol area is probably correct. It might be a bug stopping the carrier from showing up or something. I ended up skipping that one and went for Weserübung in Norway.

Magnetic pistol are designed to explode under a ship rather then hitting the side of it. Magnetic pistol does enormous damage to a ship and easily break them in two due to the massive pressure from underneath, lifting the ship litterarly up from the sea level.
Set the torpedo depth to slightly under the bulk of the target. In the early years there was alot of problems with the magnetic pistol making the torpedoes explode premature, especially in rough seas. This was modelled in SH3 if i remember it correctly. I haven't seen any torpedoes go off premature in SH5 yet though.

seems like it has to be in the spot it says on the map then if your also seeing it, dont know why i thought it was north. Spent a while looking for it (on the spot on the map) and eventually used up my remaining torps on a 5 ship escort, looked everywhere around them and no carrier so not sure what they were escorting. back at base now, and will make one more quick run though the zone on the way to the blockade, if nothing shows up then then ill just forget it and assault the blockade and call it a day. thanks for the help!
