COMSUBPAC hates me!
Every place I am sent to patrol is mined or I am to confirm if it is mined!
![]() I haven't seen a trace of a convoy in more then 1 year (Game Time). ![]() Current date is Sept. 13, 1943 - Current Mission: I am to maintain strick radio silence. My order send me to verify if La Parouse Strait is mined and patrol the Northern Sea of Japan area. When I finish patrolling the SOJ, I am to return via the mined strait and patrol down the east coast of Hanshu Island as far South as I can go before returning to port. ![]() Every radio convoy report is always as far away as it can get(WTF). ![]() I am running PE4, ROW Sound Effects, RSRDC, Environmetal_4.2 (Scene.dat only), Poul-Sound_for_SH4(Really good btw, from AotD). Is it normal in RSRDC_550 + patch to not encounter convoys like this? -TheBeast |

radio silence is more for immersion.
usually I harp about everything that I see, smell, hear, or taste that seems out of place. task force? yup merchant? yessir somebody farted in the control room? you betcha (to COMSUBPAC fr Nautilus (SS-168) Ensign Woodward passed gas in the control room during a standard trim dive earlier this morning. a captains mast is in the works as we would prefer the Japanese over another gas attack from last night's roast beef. SH427, CO USS Nautilus (SS-168)) no court martial yet. (sorry lurker! ![]() this is what I usually do if I've had an unevenful patrol. 1. I complete my objectives, 2. once completed I fire off a status report 3. sometimes they will reassign you to a different patrol sector. 4. whoop-dee-doo. ![]() 5. usually I am low on stocks from failed attacks and fuel bunkerage, so I find a nearby friendly port and check, doublecheck, and triplecheck that I can make it to that port, 6. I resupply, and 7. I take the most dangerous route through as much enemy territory as possible. 8. after finding something (be it sampans or a task force) sink what you can and RTB be more agressive! ![]()

Thanks SH427,
I do all that you have mentioned almost exactly like you have stated. That is the only reason I have a decent tonage record. Quote:
I donated to SubSim the other day to ensure I have access to it. After playing SH5 ![]() P.S. I don't want the boat because someone farted. I want it because I know the efforts you two put into creating it. -TheBeast |

I'm getting SHV next week, I figure I might as well, that way I can start taking care of some of the bigger gripes and get them out of the way.
*first* thing on the to-do-list? porting over a type IX. I'll bet I can do it. perhaps a playable Bismarck. ![]() but, judging from my last PM between me and Kelt, maybe next week is when we get the Narwhal ready to go out to the People!

If the UPC files are an issue, Can you make them available for DL but have default gun set to current in game gun and have the 6" for a no cost upgrade, or include the new 6" gun model with the UPC files. Can you tell I had to wipe the drewl from my face when typing this. ![]() ![]() -TheBeast |

Yes, these are the same orders where given to Mush Morton, the Magnificient. I think. You do not have any luck. But it is true that the convoys passing throught the La Perouse Strait are few, in RSRD. - One historical convoy fate from the Inland Sea July 24, 1943 and back July 31. - Several convoys sailed from Muroran, Otaru and Ominato from September 1, each week. But we can not know when they cross the strait because the initiation frequency is random. Good luck, Commander. Gibus

- Are this orders realistic for the game?
- Is Narwhal equipped with FMS it, in SH4?

The Narwhal had Fore and Aft 6" Cannons with around a 12 mile range but I dont think you can see more then 5 miles in the game. |

November, 11, 1943: I got into position for a attack run, Ranged the first 6 Cargo ships and calculated impact times for each. Foreward Tubes Loadout is 4 M-18's 2 M-14's. 06:15 (Midway Time) Salvo'd all bow tubes. 1 Miss, 3 dud, 2 impact. 06:30 Midway Time) 2 Large Composite sunk. Spent the next 5 hours evading DC attacks. This was a small Convoy of 9 boats but it had a 6 or 7 DD escort screen. Nov. 11, 43: Surface to patch up and report back to ComSubPac. Recieved radio intel report of Small Task Force heading my way, ETA 1 day. I move to esitmated intercept location and camp. This is my first radio intel contact report during my career I can actually do something about. Nov. 12, 43: 10:10(Midway Time) The sun is coming up, Light Fog, Light Wind. The sea is fairly calm. Running at radar depth, detect Taskforce approaching. Esitmated Range 21 miles. Start Plotting. 10:30 hours: I see the Conning towers, Looks like DD, BB, CV, BB, CV, Mogami, LC, DD with 1 more DD runing along both sides of the convoy. Esitmate Convoy speed 18-20 knots Course 341, current bearing 315, esitmate range 3,000 yards. Unable to get good fix on targets. They are running a smoke screen Hall'n ass for home. Current LoadoutL 2 Mk-18's 4-Mk14's. I press in closing the range to 1,500 yards. I lead the first ISA BB 20 degree and start shooting, 1 fish every 15 sec. Hard right rudder, come to course 90. Make depth 350'. the 4 Mk-14's miss but then IMPACT followed by IMPACT. The MK-18's hit the 2nd ISA BB she is the fourth ship in the line, many secondary exposions, ISA sunk. The Task Force must have increased speed by approx 10 knot or my initial esimate was way off. Evade DD DC attacks completely and head to my next designated patrol zone. I think the curse has finally been lifted. -TheBeast Last edited by TheBeast; 03-09-10 at 10:43 AM. |
