I got torped by a plane.

Posted this in other forum. Has anyone else ever been hit by a torpedo from a plane. I couldn't believe it at first, but had to be. I can't recall ever seeing these planes, except maybe single player, but even then never saw them drop torps...

Happened to me once in campaign a long time along with TMO RSRD at battle of Philippine Sea as well.Large group of planes that I mistook to be friendlies turned out to be these Kates and I was on the surface, no time to dive so manned AA guns and went ahead flank.I could see the torpedos hanging from their bellies as they passed over me before initiating their torpedo runs.The Val dive bombers attacked and missed, my 40 MM got lucky and knocked one down.Meanwhile in come the Kates low and slow, saw the fish splash and expected torpedo wakes to help me avoid but they have no wakes(had forgot this, aggravates me, they should have wakes and US planes torpedos also) So as I went into hard starboard turn i decided to check the view out and went to external cam, watched as four fish barely missed me, but one was right on target amidships, put a nice hole and hull damage to 95% , lost all my diesel full, heavy flooding, all over.Wish they had wakes, would make it fun and give you a chance.

Be nice if they were around more. Maybe just the nice mix of Carriers. I've fought this battle many a time and this was a first...Oh well, really cool deal. I went back to a save and they came again. Get 50 of those things sending torps at you...watch out. I almost always do my attacks at night, so guess that's what I missed.

After I lost the TF due to all the planes, I found the Yamato near Iwo in a small TF. Only had 7 torps, got them all in and left it dead on the water....just had to wave bye to it.
