I've completed Modern Warfare 2 without any problems and now i'm playing some levels again, but i have a problem. During the level "Wolverines!", sometimes the screen starts flickering. Sometimes the game freezes for a moment, sometimes the flickering stops and nothing happens, and once the game crashed with a message saying something like "3D device not accessible".
It happens mostly when using thermal sights or Predator Drones, but now it happened me twice while on "normal vision". I have a GTS250, drivers updated, and my system meets the recommender requirements for MW2. Any ideas? Thank you ![]() UPDATE: i've been testing the thermal sight and the Predators on other levels, and so far i haven't encountered the problem again. Maybe it's related only to Wolverines! (it's a pretty large scenario). The graphics card (nor any other component) isn't overheating. The GPU never goes higher than 70ºC, and the CPU is always below 55ºC. Well - I don't have the game so I can't try and recreate. However, the error itself makes it clear your dealing with a graphix related problem in some manner. If your positive on the card not overheating - and I would double check that - then I would look at rolling to a previous version of the vid card driver.
Also - is there a specific sequence of events where it crashes? A specific level area, or a series of actions you can recreate to cause it to fail? When you get the error - does the PC blue screen - or does the application just bomb out to the desktop?

Once, the game CTDed with the error message I said, but that happened when i was minimizing the game while i had the flicker problem, and on another ocasion the game also CTDed while minimizing, but there wasn't any flicker that time. So maybe the flicker isn't the cause of the CTDs. |

Sounds like the flickering indicates the driver is attempting to recover. I agree with CH: roll back till you find one that works.
![]() BTW 196.xx is crap (I don't say that lightly), at least go back to 195.xx.

The flickering is definitely related to thermal scopes and predators.
I'm gonna try 196.75 (i have 196.21 installed right now), and if they keep failing i'll install 195.62. I really hate these weird bugs, and driver incompatibilities and all this sh ![]() |

You think that's bad? I was on 186.xx, just because I liked 'm, and after 2 hours or so of play, AvP wouldn't even start anymore, froze on those first logo screens.
![]() Updated to 195.xx, all better. ![]()
