Default Yahoo! I've just become a train driver!

I have just passed my final practical driver test to become a suburban train driver for Cityrail here in Sydney, Australia!

Over a year of training, 300 hours of driving at all times the day, in any weather.

I get my keys, pass and new roster tomorrow! Then I'm let loose on the network by myself!

Congrats!

Do you get to pull the lever that makes the "whoo whooooooo" noise? Because that would be awesome.

Well done mate.

I'm never getting on a CityRail train again.

Can you see if you can make the bloody things run on time now?

Congratulations! If I ever visit Sydney can I get a ride in the locomotive? Ever since I was a kid with a train set i've wanted to do that.

WTG Dude! Here's a some of my fave train songs for your work music:

Bruce Cockburn: Train In The Rain:

Elvis Costello, Rufus Wainwright and Renee Fleming: In The Pines:

You really can't see him, but this is the best version on youtube. Bruce Cockburn: Night Train:

The Band & Paul Butterfield: Mystery Train:

Greatful Dead: Casey Jones:

Pentangle: Train Song:

Allison Krauss and Union Station: Man Of Constant Sorrow:

Savoy Brown: Hellbound Train:

Not necessarily ABOUT trains, but there's a train in the video. Roy Rogers used to play my high school dances when we were kids: Roy Rogers and Norton Buffalo: Ain't No Bread In The Breadbox:

Bruce Cockburn: How I Spent My Fall Vacation:

Maura O'Connell, James Grant & Nancy Griffiths:Blue Train:

Bob Dylan: It Takes A Lot To Laugh. Ot Takes A Train To Cry:

For Frau Kaleun, Gotta take the bad with the good, Darlin'.: Arlo Guthrie at the Boston Pops: City Of New Orleans:

Huddie Ledbetter AKA Leadbelly: Rock Island Line:

Peter Green, founding member of Fleetwood Mac doing Robert Johnson's Love In Vain:

Make a CD of these songs and play them over your intercom. EVERYONE will want to ride YOUR Train.

What, no City Of New Orleans?

I dunno, maybe that one's too depressing.

Thank god you're not on Metro down here in Melbourne. Just kidding Bookworm, congrats.

And if you're delayed let the passengers know why. We appreciate having info!

Phones have to be switched off while driving. If you are caught on the phone, you can be fired.

Yes! But I have to be careful, people complain if I use it too much!

Have t be careful about that, I can be fired if I let unathorized people up front. If I could let people in, my Dad would be up the front in a heartbeat!

I'll be trying to avoid it! (Signal Passed At Danger) This side of the red signal I get paid, the other side, I pay!!!!

'Gratz.

You don't have to sell tickets to the passengers, just drive the train, right? Makes the job about 50 % easier if there's no actual face to face 'customer service' involved.
