Default Most feared escort

And mod or ship..

I have to say, I hate the Matsu....killed me last night as I was setting up on 3 large Pass. Liners.

Double roll offs
4 K guns in different positions for an evil spread.
Two Y guns..

It drops one heck of a pattern, as many charges as a Type AB, but I think a better spread, but the Type AB's, those with the 6 Y guns and one roll off come in a close second.

Well there were atleast two Matsu's up there that I ID'ed...there were a few escorts that I didn't, but I could tell it was the Matsu that got me by the number of charges and pattern....Got me in about 120 ft deep 100nm outside Singy...I seldom see the nice Conde Verde large Pass. Ships and couldn't pass them up. They were going fast at 16 nts, so I tried...Was playing this career with no saves, die start over...makes me so mad..Well, least it was only april of 42 and only 3 patrols, so not bad, but time to start a new career.

Worse, I had sunk one liner and had one dead in the water. Dang.

Armistead,

How do you identify ship types and the weapons they have? Only by the periscope view and ship's manual?

How do you know if they fired K guns or Y-guns? Only by the ship type or do you use external cam? I'm asking because from what I've read from your posts, you are the kind of guy who goes for "105%" realism, no map contacts updates, etc...

And...I'm not with the map here right now, but were you in shallow waters?Too bad, Pass. Liners are big juicy targets that one can't pass up.

I found one escorted by two DD's once in 42', but at that time didn't know Dick O'kane's or other good technique so I missed it out completely...and the escorts harassed me for a some time... (good to train evasion skills, tough)

Yes, just ID with the scope. Mainly just playing long enough with contacts off and on to know what they have, but most ships weapons are included in the readme of the mod. Mods have added some ships and reworked the weapons platform, so best to read and see what they've done. Some carry high amounts of charges, some don't..Many times I've had them run out of charges

I don't always play 100%,I alter careers. Last career I played with cams on and used a few saves. Obvious when I started I played with contacts and cams on, but now I change it up. The only pain with cams and contacts off is you about have to play in real time during the whole attack...can get long.

One good thing to do before you play without cams and contacts is when you use them now, keep the cam on escorts nearest you and do things with you sub and see how he reacts. Good way to learn how to avoid mistakes later.

The Kaibokan in TMO.

A well-skippered Black Swan in OM or SH3.
