Hi everyone... newbie alert.
![]() Did some quick searches and found some answers to a few questions... but so many more to ask. Firstly... just came back to the game after several years of absence. I used to own an original SH3 not realising it had starforce (also got caught out with Race Driver 2)... and after 2 DVDRW drives died on me I discovered the links to the DRM and got rid of them. But last week I saw it on offer on steam and a couple of weeks before that I purchased SH4... at least with steam there isn't the DRM issues and judging from the SH5 comments.. I won't be buying that either... Different subject, but I cannot fathom why these companies encourage people to pirate these games and have these restrictions removed. Been around sub games for a very long time... don't profess to be an expert, but I remember playing the original silent service I & II.. must be 15 or more years ago now. Tried a modern sub game '688' I think but prefer the WWII era subs and arenas. So.. onto my questions... sorry if it get's a bit long. ![]() 1: Screen Res - I've read a few threads on the subject, downloaded the files and adjusted the screen res in the files and the main.cfg... but it doesn't work. Running Vista 64 Home Premium. I'd really like to get this running at max res as my system can certainly handle it. ![]() 2: Currently downloading the GWX3 and NYGM mods, have also grabbed jsgme and sh3cmdr... But how do these mods fair when used with the steam version? Can I still use them? 3: Any other problems I might encounter using steam? 4: Would I be better of looking at mods for SH4 than SH3? SH4 is also from steam, so Q3 is relevant there also. Finally, thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings and hopefully offering the answers I need. ![]() Nice to find this place, stumbled across it whilst searching for the screen res solution and had no idea there was a mod community for these games... Not even looked at multiplayer yet, still trying to get the hang of perfecting my attacks. I struggle to predict where a convoy is going to be so I can intercept and lie in wait for them... so I often get a little gung ho and attack, usually managing to sink a couple of ships... but then crossing my fingers I can evade the ensuing hunt. My fave patrol spot is just before the Gibraltar straight... it's tricky trying to get through but lot's of targets heading into and out of... makes for shooting fish in a barrel. Last night I managed to sink 11 merchants, most of them were C2's and most were taken down with a single torp and then finished off with the deck gun if needed. Cheers |

Downloading the mod now... then I guess I'll spend a couple of days reading the manual and getting it running.

Welcome!
The manual could hold off a zombie attack with its size! |
