Good e-mail program?

I was wondering what would be a good e-mail program to use? I have Thunderbird, but it has been ticking me off lately. Ever since Mozilla released Thunderbird 3, it has been sluggish like FF was when they released version 3 of that (3 must be the magic number

). Mozilla's not the Mozilla I loved a few years ago.

I use Google Chrome now, but would like to switch out TB for something better.

Why do people feel compelled to upgrade even when its not necessary ?
I use Thunderbird 2 with several extensions and all is great.
Have no need to go to TB 3 anytime soon.

I didn't upgrade. TB did it on its own. I had TB2 and liked it.

If you liked it - uninstall and then get what you had before - making sure to turn off the autoupdate features.
