Default A few q's

Hey all,

I'm back to SH after a LONG break with SH3, bought SH4 the other day for like £6 pretty awesome.

Anyway, just a quick question. Today on my 2nd patrol i managed to get one of my engines destroyed as well as a rudder i think. Got DCd in about 60feet of water, wasn't good. But the main question is, i was approx. 14km from port at the time and i couldn't turn only go forward, seemed the damage to my rudder was too much to repair or something. Is there anything i can do in this situation? Can some damage not be repaired? I had to resort to quiting and restarting in the end.

Thanks for the help!

That's about all you can do there. Once you lose the rudder it's game over pretty much.

Maybe they'll eventually add a tow feature if you're close to port?

Thanks for the quick reply ETR.

Was a bit annoying being SO close to home port. It must have been under attack or something, since there were 3 destoyers waiting for me 20km out! I could have grounded the boat and made my men walk the 14km back to base! If only!

I had a great patrol and that happened to me. I was near Midway that battle. I had no rudder, but almost a direct line to Pearl, so I tried. You just got to get close enough. I must've missed the zone to dock by a few miles.

So after sinking 3 carriers, we even waved at a passing US TF going by...but died in the end about 40NM's from base with ships and planes passing by.
It is one silly aspect of the game, cant steer by props.
