When I went into the Navy in 1967 I got sent to sea as a "deckape" a Bosun' striker. I hated it, chipping and painting, cleaning up peoples puke, cleaning bilges for the snipes during extra duty, and all the other crap that went along with it, along with getting bathed in #1 crude during refeuling.
When I joined this site I was given the rank of "Bilge Rat" which I took lightheartedly figuring I was new. I got promoted and started climbing the ranks quickly and enjoyed my promotions. Today I was promoted to the rank of "BOSUN" and the flashbacks are starting again after 43 yrs. I just came from my attorneys office and he told me SUBSIM.com is worth about $241,000.00 and that I should be awarded a piece of it due to Mr. Stevens actions........... Anyway, I only stayed a deckape for one year and got lucky and sent to Radar school, and the rest of my service was a cakewalk. "AIN'T NO ANARCHY HERE BROTHER"..........keep up the good work. Who in a right mind woul want to tangle with a tough Texan anyway. Neils Avatar displays a pic of a cowboy from Houston. I was last in Houston in 1978 and the beltway was 40 miles across then. It was the hughest city I ever saw. I even went to the biggest and famous country western bar even though I can't recall the name. I also visited the store that sells the fancy high dollar boots Neil wears. Cant't remember the name either. If it turns out that Neils ranch is in the city limits, I'll bet he owns the city and SUBSIM.com is a write off and hobby. Thanks for reading. Not much happening here 60 miles north of Seattle tonite except for cold wind and rain as I live i mile from the Pacific....................Cheers to all..........Ships, the BOSUN, but not for long. |
