Default [req] dive speed parameter to tweak IJN subs

from 8 knots surfaced, ordered flank speed and ordered periscope depth.

reached 60 feet 44 seconds later.

first : why so similar results ?

second : a bit fast maybe ?

how do you compute the dive speed ?

displacement/engine power/ballast ???

I need to slow the dive speed on my subs since they are not tiny Uboots...

Yea, those I boats were slow divers, I heard a report where the crash dive time on a C2 class was about 59 seconds.

didnt ou get my PM a while back? the key is in the balast settings, they determine the flow rate of the ballast tank pumps

as near as i figured out the ManBT_flood_speed effects the crash dive "somewhat" but the dive balast effects the regular dives "somewhat" but the key is a certain combination of value size AND percentage they are apart gives you different results. however if you get outside the ranges that work then everything reverts back to the stock times no matter what numbers you are using.

below is a sample of what happens:

stock numbers and times:

(settings)
ManBT_flood_speed = 12000
DiveBT_flood_speed = 2000

(stock times)
CD = 22 seconds
PD = 70 seconds

I thought you'd have a set of settings for me.. like my IJN torpedo power spreadsheet or the IBDM spreadsheet.

new data suggest the influence of the submerged displacement in the computing of dive times

IJN dive settings :

have to put in the submerged displacement now

corrected the Sen Toku displacement

trying 10000/1000 for the Sen Toku, didn't change a thing....

Default Dive times for IJN subs as recorded with the v3.9.3 of the Jyunsen B mod

Dive times for IJN subs as recorded with the v3.9.3 of the Jyunsen B mod

I guess what is taken into account is

engine power
displacement submerged
ballast speed

that would explain the differences, but in respect to the Typ IX (stock) they are slower and that's normal.

well the reason i didnt was because the numbers dont always follow a set rate of effect

you have to try many combinations of settings AND ratios to see what works best "in game"

you cant use a formula on paper to say x = y = z so if i add 1 to y and get z to equal what i want, it doesnt work like that in the game

also it gets to a certain point where it only goes so far and thats the best you can do so if it stops reacting then try something else like a different ratio and start over

theres no easy way, its a real PITA and its like cracking a combination lock

you have to approach this thinking you are not going into this to set it how you like it but rather to see how much you CAN change it and once you know that then you decide which of those settings gives you the best result with the least side effects on other things
