Default Norwegian interview with British veteran

Hello.

A Norwegian newspaper interviewed a British submarine veteran from the submarine HMS Venturer which sank the German submarine U 864 off the coast of Norway. He said that he feel sorry for the German submariners because of the "poorly" designet German Uboats... He also said that the German Uboats were trash compared to the British submarines. I will translate the interview and post it on this forum later.

But, HELLO!? I know that the German Uboats were very advanced at that time and the allies copied all German technology after the war. Just look at the type XXI and the ME 262 jet.

What do you think?

Could be he's just repeating the line sold to him years ago when he was in the war. Every nation's leadership in WW2 tried to boost the morale of it's soldiers and sailors and airmen by telling them had the finest equipment and the enemy far inferior kit even when they obviously didn't. Plus, given the massive U-Boat losses publicized in the Allied press up to that point (1944) there was something in his mind to back it up.

Also bear in mind that you have seen the opinion/viewpoint of ONE individual only and not the findings of a deep analysis/investigation conducted by experts in that chosen field.
