When does the Snorkel come?

In my campaign, it's August 1943 and I am waiting for the snorkel to be available. In the chart, it shows spring-ish of 1943, but do I need a certain u-boat type?
When the bloody hell can I breath underwater!!

1944, if I remember right. And I believe the Type VII gets it before the Type IX.

Sometime late 1943-early 1944 is when the snorkel becomes available, I believe.

speaking of the chart, is that even accurate? because i seem to always get things later than what the chart tells me.

Yeah...my chart shows "fall" of 1943 for the snorkel. It's November 1943, I'm in a VIIC/41...and there is no snorkel in sight. The availabilty date has to be listed in a cfg somewhere (Basic.cfg perhaps?).
