How can I change the damage system?
Hi guys!
I'm playing OMonsum with OMEGU, and though the mod is excellent in nearly all aspects, I'm very annoyed with the way the damage system is changed. Ships need too much impacts to sink, and torpedoes seem nearly harmless fireworks. IMHO it's completely unrealistic that I need more than one torp to sink a simple armed trawler with 500 ton, the torpedo actually should nearly volatilize the ship... but instead it continue sailing... ![]() I asked about it in the OM thread, but the mod creator refused to help. So my question is: where is the damage system located in SH4 dir? Somebody could explain me a bit how it works? I ask this because perhaps combining some mods or modifying them by myself partially I would get all the wonderful performances of OM and OMEGU but with a different damage system , which IMHO would be absolutely perfect ![]() Thanks a lot on advance. Greetings ![]() |

you can use my torpedo mods to get more powerfull torpedos
and the ships zon files have armor levels and hit points that control the level of damage they can withstand if you want to go that route but every ship is done seperately you can also adjust the guns by changing the shells.zon or shells.sim files (forgot which one) but its very tricky to figure out |

Another question would be: how can I make the ships sink faster? This aspect has been changed too, but I prefer a faster and spectacular sinking (again a more "stock" effect). Thanks on advance and greetings ![]() |

That is not a refusal to help but just a fact that changing the damage model is no small thing. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...postcount=1992 Last edited by lurker_hlb3; 12-20-09 at 07:04 PM. |

Excuse me for any misunderstandig lurker_hlb3, perhaps the reason is because English is not my native language...
![]() Anyway, I've read the post you appointed and it's really difficult to change the model by myself (mainly lack of free time... ![]() Perhaps avoiding some .zon mod files could "evade" the damage system and maintain the "stock" one, or do you think this could break completely the mod? I've tried to add some other mod over yours, but this takes game to CTD or complete fails... Or, anybody knows any mod able to return to stock or change the system without disabling the OM completely? My perfect combination to play SH4 would be, if has not been clearly explained, would be: OPERATION MONSUM WITH OMEGU ![]() Thanks on advance and of course MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU!!! ![]() |

There is no solution for your problem. You have only the following options: 1. Learn to change the damage model to your personnel taste 2. Learn to play OM "as is" 3. De-install OM and play stock SH4 |

couldnt he simply remove the zones.cfg file from the op monsun data folder, it is the key to controlling how ships sink isnt it?

Try this:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...do=file&id=483 Download, extract to a temp folder. Go into Windows Explorer, copy the \Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Library\Torpedoes_US.zon to a backup. Switch to the temp folder, copy the Torpedoes_US.zon from either V1, V2, or V3 into the \Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Library folder, yes to overwrites. If it don't work, copy the backup file back in to restore it. I'm baffled as to why that would be incompatible with any mod, it's one file that merely changes the explosive force of the torpedo. |
