Default Anchors

Are we going to be able to lower-raise anchor on a realistic way?

I like this idea alot

If the new dynamic weather is as good as it sounds then your boat, when anchored, would turn into the wind as it drifts right?

i like the idea of having realistic functions too but im not sure what real use it would be unless we can call for a tow or repairs and get help

after all, without the ability to call for help and get it, if you are disabled and drifting your games over already so why waste time watching seagulls fly over

Hm, most of the time, when the sub is on the open Atlantic, this won't come to much use I guess. So I doubt that it will be implemented. But who knows...

im all for total immersion, even for an anchor!

but i'd prefer a flag on the wintergarden mast first, then options for victory pennants before an anchor tho.

cheers.

Not a bad idea....but neither on permanent display during the patrol.

Well, lets say we are on a harbour somewhere expecting new orders. If we do not have an anchor to drop well finish over the rocks, assuming a correct wind and streams simulation within the weather system

I would echo the "why"?

There are so many other areas where the simulation experience can be improved, that the operation of the anchor ranks down where with the soup questions.

If the developers are at the point where they are modeling the anchor, the rest of the simulation better be frickin perfect.

If you do anchors then you would have to do harbor tugs as well. And then you would have to have the crew station the Maneuvering Watch as well. Speaking from my modern day experience we never used our anchor...for anything! We had procedures for using it, but never would have to use it. The only reason we had one was because of a Coast Guard regulation I believe. An anchor on a submarine is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

How about simulated raising and lowering of some crab or lobster pots?
