Default IIB or not IIB

Hey guys, advice needed.

Should I upgrade to the IID when it becomes available?

Apart from longer range, what other benefits does it come with?

At VII is out of the question, I'm trying to finish the war in the type II only.

Thanks,

That´s a big yes
You get a tiny wintergarten and an extra AA-pos. In the Black Sea it´s a must have.

And it looks much cooler

If your trying to see the war right through with a Type II, go for the extras the newer model will give you.

Good luck with the few torps u get in a Type II - but it does look fun. Might have to start a Black Sea campaign if the current one goes belly up.
(Which it might do as im patrolling off Rockall Bank in '43)

Extra range, that will allow to travel from The Bay, all the way to Island, and back.
120 meters Max Depth, instead of 100.
And a super bonus for later in the war:
Type IID has the fastest Crash Dive Time of ALL uboats.
Trying to stay at 12 meters for a submerged attack can still get pretty scarey though.

The main benefit is the range, more fuel and that mean you can go to the operative area more fast and forget the constant preocupation about fuel by the IIA.Improved dive depth also and a twin 20mm in deck.
This submarine is also one my favorites and actually I am in de middle of 1940 with one IID.
This type remember me also the old film with Frank Sinatra about the recover of one submarine of this type in the Caribeean and his utilisation for a hold-up againts the "Queen Mary".
