Default John Stossel Leaves ABC to Join Fox News

Stossel is a long standing Libertarian. Like Glen Beck, when he was on CNN, Stossel has been largley ignored by the left during his time on ABC.

I expect that to change.

After decades as a reporter and host on "20/20" and other ABC News shows, John Stossel is leaving the network for a multiyear deal with Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, according to TVNewser.
Stossel reportedly is going to host a weekly show on Fox Business and a quartet of hourlong specials for Fox News. He's expected to make regular appearances on Fox News Channel during daytime and primetime.

I've read both of Stossel's books, and he's one of my favorites. In his first book he recounts how as long as he was showing bad business practices he was the darling of the left, but as soon as turned the same critical camera eye on bad government practices they started giving him names like "traitor" and "corporate whore". Stossel is as honest as they come, even talking about taking government money when his beach house was wrecked by a storm: "I think that kind of practice is wrong, but I also think I'd be stupid not to take the help when offered; so I, too, am a welfare queen."
:rotfl:

Love the guy, and wish him all the best at his new job.

Stossel in his own words.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/johnstossel...ng-to-fox.html

It's time for a change.
In one month, I leave ABC News.

In October, I will join the folks at Fox.
I plan to do a one hour prime time show every week on FBN, the Fox Business Channel, and contribute to various existing programs on Fox News Channel.

I’m grateful to ABC News for allowing me to do stories that challenged conventional wisdom, and occasionally enraged many of its viewers. But it’s said that everyone should change jobs every 7 years. I’ve been at ABC for 28 years ...

In my new job, I want to dig into the meaning of the words “liberty” and “limited government”. ABC enabled me to do some of that, but Fox offers me more airtime and a new challenge.

I’m still considering what I will do with my own show, one hour each week. Economics certainly. Exercises in understanding libertarianism. My “take” on the issues of the day. Kind of like this blog. In fact, maybe we’ll call it, Stossel’s Take?

I ask you for your ideas. A studio audience? Should I wander around Congress?

I wondered where you got all the chain e-mails from donut .
So with the advent of spam/junk/bulk filters built into servers it is neccesary to select grassfire as not spam to ensure they are not sent straight to the spam folder.

Will he turn into a raving loon the moment he arrives as well?

Frankly I am glad this is happening. Fox is WAY beyond right wing it is now nutjobville in my view. You like your Beck? Keep him. The news keeps the cameras on the loons to keep liberals shaking in their boots and wackjobs who think the gov is taking over glued to their TVs to make money. Period. If you honestly think ANY network is "Fair and Balanced" you are flat out clueless in my view.

The video segments of beck and the other loons and racists and classists will be highly effective for dems who want to show the loon side of the Republican Party.

You want to continue to let your party be defined by loons? Fine by me! Have at it!

This coming from a guy who identifies himself with the party anchored to the nuts at places like the Daily Kos...

For every conservative extremist I can name you a liberal one. Why don't you stick to the actual facts of the issues rather than meaningless, ad hominem attacks so often perpetuated by your side whenever the words "Fox News" come up?

Will some photos of racist tea party people holding outright racist signs do for facts? How about becks nutjob segment where he did not even use correct spelling? Just to make it more interesting how I post the video of MSNBC reporting it for kicks?

You see I know I will never change your mind. You will have to discover in 2010 and in 2012 that you are letting your party be defined by nutjobs. The nutjobs you see talking about an Obama conspiracy are usually from deep red states or from deep red areas of blue states. When the "fad" of the so called liberal conspiracy grows boring the segments on youtube will shatter the support of the republican party as it did in 2008.

I notice Kos has the pubs scared now.. Interesting. DU was starting to really suck as a forum. Kos is much more modern and better at showing info than DU and Freepervilles old style forum system. (I said old style, Subsim's is far better)

Again, anyone paying any unbiased attention to the news could go tit-for-tat with you on these things.

Wanna watch the Van Jones videos and read some of Obama's so-called Czars' writings?

You're damned right - I don't let PEOPLE make up my mind for me - I research the facts and draw my own conclusions. That's something I would suggest you start doing. In fact, on this very forum months ago I wrote that North Korea has nuclear ambitions, and you admonshed me as some sort of nutjob Republican for thinking that. Odd how silly that admonishment seems considering that they've now detonated a weapon.

But see, through your political colored glasses, the best you can do are ad hominem attacks sourced in your own blind following of someone else's agenda. Kudos.

As a result, don't be surprised at most of what you say being taken with a grain of salt.

My party? Now you have to create a strawman in order to level yet another pointless attack which dodges the issues?

I'm very, VERY independent. I know it's probably tough for someone of such indoctrination as yourself to see things as anything other than "either you're with us or against us", but that's real life.

Wait - are you trying to make the allegation that the opposition mostly comes from places where the opposition is mostly found?

How wonderfully observant of you.

Sure, buddy. Is that prediction at all based in facts or are you just absurdly stating that what you HOPE will happen is destiny?

The more I am called racist for disagreing with Barack Hussein Obama the less it means. Crying wolf (racist)for disagreement on policy can do nothing but hurt this 'post-racist' president, and his vision, as it is.

The law of diminishing returns on the race card is in effect.

If you cannot logically defend POTUS policies you are the very racist you accuse others to be.

Maybe he won't listen to you Aramike but maybe he'll listen to this excellent article written by Democrat party activist and writer Camille Pagilia.

http://www.salon.com/opinion/paglia/...are/index.html

Quote:
By foolishly trying to reduce all objections to healthcare reform to the malevolence of obstructionist Republicans, Democrats have managed to destroy the national coalition that elected Obama and that is unlikely to be repaired. If Obama fails to win reelection, let the blame be first laid at the door of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who at a pivotal point threw gasoline on the flames by comparing angry American citizens to Nazis. It is theoretically possible that Obama could turn the situation around with a strong speech on healthcare to Congress this week, but after a summer of grisly hemorrhaging, too much damage has been done. At this point, Democrats' main hope for the 2012 presidential election is that Republicans nominate another hopelessly feeble candidate. Given the GOP's facility for shooting itself in the foot, that may well happen.

OOOOH!! A political thread!!

Take a look at this:

http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2009/...ercent-of.html

I wonder how many Teabaggers were in the 1.4% of "working households" that had to pay more taxes? Or make $350,000 a year or more, and thus be subject to the surcharge to pay for Obama's health plan?

As for John Stossel: whatever. Going to Fox lowers his credibility, as Fox is an obvious propaganda organ.
