Default Problem with the graphics and notebook

Hello ,

I have a problem when I am playing SH3 on my notebook. The surface of the sea is being shown incorrectly. I searched on the forum and I found one topic with the similar problem which I have but unfortunately without the solution .

My notebook:
HP Compaq 6730s
Pentium DualCore @ 2,00GHz
RAM 4GB
Intel Graphics Media X4500
Win Vista Home 32bit

A few screenshots:

I have the newest drivers for my graphics card. Does somebody know how to solve this problem?

Regards

Hi, Drunken+sailor and welcome aboard!
Are you using any mods? If so, which ones?

Looks like a graphics overwrite problem which sometimes happens using
A Vista operating system. How to cure it well sometimes if you save the game and then disable the environment mod and then re-enable it this clears it.
If it has happened because you have enabled another mod during your patrol
Sometimes it wont clear until you start a new mission.

Maybe use AA (anti aliasing) in combination with the Intel Graphics Media X4500?

Thank's for your replies

The screens are from "clean" SH3 1.4b but I have the same problem with GWX 3. On my PC computer (Celeron 3.06GHz, 1.5 GB RAM, GeForce 5500 and Win XP) I have no any problems so dvd with the game is okay. As can be seen in pictures on water it doesn't have reflections and there is some graphical artefact in the left bottom corner. It surprises me because with such games as Cod 4 and 5 or Oblivion I have no problems.

Rafael, I will try to contrive with AA and I will write whether something gave it.

Regards

Looks like AA may be the problem. CTRL+PgDn, I think will turn it down to off. If I have the keys wrong someone will correct me.

You can also try to lessen the intensity slider in the options screen.

I am running SH3 with all supermods (GWX+WAC+NYGM+LSH3) on my MacBook Pro 15" with BootCamp from Apple to run Windows XP.

Everything is running fine. I have another (white) 13" MacBook with Intel GMA card and SH3 will run, but I see less details and I cannot run it with any 'supermod' as above mentioned.

Maybe use AA; and less the slider a little will help?

Good luck!

I tried different AA values (Shift + PgUp/PgDn) and it didn't help . In screens AA max i min, intensity slider - 0%.

There is no difference between intensity slider with value 0 and value 100.
Does somebody have other idea?

Quite difficult this issue ...

Because you can run COD 4 and even 5!

I don't know if nhancer (http://www.nhancer.com/) would help and if they have something for your specific video card.

There are people on subsim.com that use nhancer.

Visit nhancer's website and give it a look?

Perhaps, if you go to an older driver. I had an ATI card once (ATI radeon9800) that got all screwed up with a newer driver and I had to use an older one.
I also found the Omega drivers worked much better than the ATI ones. (http://www.omegadrivers.net/)

Yes, latest drivers are NOT allways an improvement for old games.

I tried older drivers for graphic card and different settings in the Intel's control panel. "In the West Front without change" . I reached a conclusion that I wouldn't be upset by it because still I most often play without the external view. Perhaps in the near future I will install XP because Vista is irritating me terribly (my four-year-old PC with XP works better than the four-month notebook with Vista ) and then I will see whether something it will help.
Thanks for all your replies.

Try Windows XP. (and if possible forget Vista)

I use it on my MacBook Pro 15".

yup its just something you have to live with using intel vid cards. Strangely is doesnt happen in sh4?? There doesnt seem to be a proper fix, but disabling reflections altogether will at least get rid of it if you can live with a flatter looking sea.
