Does anyone know if the game is coded to have IJN planes/boats report when they see you?
I honed in on a small slow convoy only to find it was a couple of junks, not worth my last few rounds. I left them...and within half an hour there was a DD hot on my trajectory, clearly heading to the where the junks were. Coincidence? Or code? I've had dozens of planes fly over me, but never had any sort of repercussions from being reported....sure they'll drop a bomb or two, but when they leave it's like they forget I was there. So.. what is it?

Yes sir. If something spots you, it often will spawn something close. You have to be very careful with fishing vessels, ect. near the coast as they will vector planes to you. If a plane spots you, it will send more planes.
I was in the bungo chasing a TF through the narrows. Had contacts off, but staying just in sight I wasn't paying attention and went right through a convoy of fishing vessels. The nearest dd was 9000 yards away at night and as I went through the fishing vessels, they vector the dd's on me. Couse you can use that to your advantage. I escaped on the surface leaving the dd's behind. That left the TF half guarded and I was able to do a surface attack on two carriers. |
