What to do?

Hello fellow-Kaleuns,

I am playing a new career, since installing GWX 3. I am now in my third patrol and so far, weather has been my biggest enemy. I'm at sea now for 21 days, 18 of those have been rain, rough seas and almost zero visibility. How do the weather gods expect me to do my job in these conditions?

Still, I am persevering, although I have only been able to intercept and sink a single ship after a grueling 12 hour chase, directly against the waves.

For the past three days, I have not seen or heard a single ship. Then suddenly I pick up a warship on the hydrophones, far away, moving at medium speed and intersecting my course. The problem is that it is 18:30 hours, pitch black and heavy seas. During my previous ship encounter, the crew and instruments did not pick up the ship until I was within 300 meters. Clearly not a comfortable distance from a warship...plus of course the torps won't have enough time to arm.

So my question is as follows: if I want to sink this warship (and I do), what would be the best way to proceed, considering the circumstances?

Do what your name suggests-Go Deep.

The warship is probably a destroyer. Save the torpedo for a merchant. With the conditions and short time to get a torpedo solution, the chance is pretty high that you'll miss anyway and waste the torpedo.
Plus, if you do sink him, the renown and tonnage isn't really worth it.

Rememer, Onkel Karl wants merchant tonnage.

Don't worry, the weather will clear eventually.

Oh, sorry...I forgot to mention: the target appears to be an auxiliary cruiser. I checked with the '>' key. So that's about 10.000 tons. I want them

Bad weather, many days without any enemy ... now you know what to do. Use your torpedoes at the auxiliary cruiser!

Oooooo....that's different. They are definitely worth it.
It is tough with the weather though. If you can get close enough without being seen, you might be able to get a course and speed and then shadow hoping for the weather to change or get ahead of him for a day submerged attack.

Quite the dilemma. There's nothing wrong though with letting him go.

BTW:
What does the ">" key do?

With the '<' and '>' you can cycle through a visual of all contacts within sensor range (if you have external cam enabled). That's how I know it to be an auxiliary cruiser. Not completely sure, of course, since it is terribly dark...
